Haven't been out there in a while. Have the crowds subsided now that sports are back on, schools back in and people are getting back to work? Shit was CRAZY out there past year! Weekdays looking like weekends and weekends looking like holidays. 👎

Things chillin' out?

Wife and I grabbed a bite yesterday at the Javelina Catina. All was quiet in the channel and no crowds at 4pm in the restaurant. Not sure if that is an indicator or just a slow Havasu day before the next big weekend.

We were out there 8/6-8/15. I was pretty surprised that it was so calm out there. Even Saturday afternoon we were at 3 dunes with no more than 4-5 other boats.

Nothing like it was this time last summer.

@DWC 's post about heading out actually got me thinking about the crowds. I was gonna post this question on his thread but didn't want to thread jack it.

Gotta say, hearing it may be calming down makes me happy. LOL

The crowds were becoming unpleasant to be around. I've avoided holiday weekends for years because it's just too much. And I'm not necessarily one of those that doesn't like a party and people / boats when we're out there. It had just been over the top crowded lately. Desert storm Friday and Saturday was the busiest I've ever seen that lake in my 25 years of boating there. I know that weekend is always pretty busy but it was RIDICULOUS to the point it was almost dangerous running down the lake.

Nice to hear things are reverting "back to normal". I'm sure the locals feel the same way.

Was out last weekend. The channel on Saturday was insane. I have never seen so many idiots. We stayed on the north side of the channel and was shocked at all the idiots and crowds
Yeah, but the channel has been like that for the past 10 years! LOL

Seriously though, seems you could always get away from the channel and find a chill spot. That has actually been very difficult to do this past year, year and a half.

It’s a different lake north of the mouth of the river or south of steam boat [emoji16].

I agree though it was pretty wild lol

Come after labor day, crowds really drop off and the weather is perfect.
We'll be there first weekend of Oct. Best time of year!!

Usually. Past year or so it has not been so. Crowded up river and down lake and everywhere in between.

The only time I really shook my head is when I had to go launch at the Marina (back when nautical shut down) at 7am. And it was closed by 10-10:30.

We were there the weekend of august 14th and it was dead. No lines whatsoever at the marina to launch.

i normally only hit the channel after 3pm on Sundays. Last trip, we had to leave Sunday, so we tried that on a Saturday (never again). Usual south part of lake beach spots were full, so we found a cove and chilled until 3 boats rolled in to do the same. We left and went to the pool

It would be interesting to see restaurant, hotel, vrbo and launch stats vs last year. It’s gotta be down quite a bit vs last year.
Our trips are down 30 to 40% and days spent in town down double that number. The whole work and office thing. My in-laws are way worse than that with hs sports.

I have not been there since 7/8 becaue of work and then we got Covid then some prior commits.
I need to get out there and check in on my pool build, the family wants to go Labor day becaue the kids are off work but keep telling them to pass and wait a week becaue it will be a zoo.

Retirement and mid week only boating will be fun some day : )

I figured once kids sports came back on line and people headed back to work things would mellow out.

We have spent more time in Havasu this year then last year. Both the wife and I work remote now (my customer travel is nonexistent) and daughter just started school. Have 3 trips planned until summer spot at the Islander is over and the kid will be missing school (2-3 days) for each trip :).

what is limiting our trips now is swim team and fall volleyball started for the kid Monday

Dinner Friday night at Babaloo’s last week was a quite start but filled up when we least. Thursday night channel was empty by 7pm. Channel was full on Saturday up to 6pm when we went to look for a spot But had 3 boats with us. Weekdays are back to being quiet. Went to lunch a few days and tables were half full at the popular Resturants. Only had 3 groups of people at In-N-Out yesterday at lunch time. Things are slowing down. Just waiting on the snow birds to come to town and clog up the streets. LOL.

I really like watching this town come to life and starting enjoy in between the seasons.

Nope, no lake exists outside those boundaries.

Why does the Channel even come up when someone asks about crowds in Havasu?

Crowds were lighter in the Needles area last weekend.

Until free money and no rent or house payments, shit show will continue. Never seen so many folks in boats that have no clue.
It will end with the rise of socialism, unfortunately so will our way of life.

No! Oct. is the worst possible time to go, the water is like ice, beach closures everywhere you look, and that's the time of year that the brain eating amoeba are out in force. Not to mention all the deadly whirlpools that spontaneously appear in the middle of the lake and the water is so low that it's impossible to go upstream and difficult and dangerous to go downstream. No sir Oct is no good, people should stay safe and stay home.

We’ll be there 9/20-9/24, sounds like things should be nice and calm.
