Figured I'd document the story or my trip for the inmates.

As some of you know. I love me some glitter boats, bass boats are my dirty little secret. Last year I sold my beloved skeeter fx20 due having a baby. Well, a year has past and its time to get another. We still have the formula for the rough havasu afternoons, I just wanted something that I could take my son out on.

For years I have always wanted a triton 220 escape, they were a well built, fast family man's bass boat. For those that don't know triton boats was formed by the famous Earl Bentz. The same earl bentz who raced f1 with seabold family.

A few weeks back I found my holy grail, original owner, garage kept, low hour, stone perfect candy red triton. I had messaged the owner through boat trader without any luck. Finally after my 3rd email I got a response. Apparently the seller was not getting any messages and ended dropping his price due to lack of interest. After a few phone calls and a couple hours on FaceTime I sent a deposit...

... I'm boarding the airplane for Houston now, more to follow

The Big Red One! Nice find. Also like to see it, Sir. I'd like to find the Root Beer flake jet bote underneath my blue and white SeaRay, in the Pic to the left of this post, which believe it or not, is a Ranger. It's there in SoCal somewhere. Mystery of the Southland.

Best of Luck on the Triton. Safe travels home. You'll be 100 miles South of my 'Hood when you pass thru Odessa/Midland. If you need any AAA assistance along the way, my card could use a workout. You're in good hands with RDP. Hell, I'll bet your covered along the way all the way home.!

What would be a trip without some adventures...

As we landed in Houston my phone rings...

It's the shipping company, they say they are 4 days behind on pick up. Unfortunately that can't work out as the seller of the boat leaves out of town for work Monday night...

Time for plan B, I call hertz and reserve an f150, find a local truck shop that carries hitches, and figure ill bolt it up to the truck, cancel my return flight and drive it myself.

Stay tuned, the saga continues...

Avis rents f150's with 2" receivers, along with Tahoes....been there done that. as does enterprise...they will have 2500's in some areas....

The one from hertz will likely have one as well.

A little patience will always pay off...

Spoke to the shipping company owner again. One of his drivers up and quit causing the delay, he can pick the boat up himself Tuesday and have it delivered to the house in havasu Thursday morning.

Karma goes a long way in life, I let the shipping issue roll off my shoulders and the world made it right once again.

Reserved a Carolla as a rental, went to pick up the car and found all the Carollas were out. They upgraded me to new continental.

Karma struck twice tonight, booked a hotel on a third party site as soon as the plane landed. Ended up getting a suite at the Hilton in down town for $78.

The part that makes this even better is that last minute my dad decided to tag along, he is getting older and I won't ever miss a chance to spend time with pops

Well sorry for the delay, I had me a busy day.

Got up early, had breakfast and headed to magnolia. Downtown Houston wasn't too bad, definitely cleaner than California cities.

Made it to magnolia in 40 minutes with an easy drive. Countryside is beautiful up there, I could definitely do texas.

I made it to the sellers house, gorgeous place in an estate style subdivision. The part that makes it sting a little is that he paid less for this place than I did for my little starter house in temecula and he gets a pond in his backyard!

Now on to the good stuff...

Being that the boat is being shipped to havasu on Tuesday, I called to have a mobile shrink wrap guy come out and do the boat. Yes, the boat ended up being better than I expected. Minus the mark from where the bow roller contacts the bow, there isnt a single mark on the whole boat.

Texas mobile shrink wrap I can not say enough good things about. They came out to the house ahead of schedule, wrapped the whole boat with extra padding on wear points and used 9 mil material all for $300. Chip and his boys are badass at what they do.
