Please refer to the Willys. Nearly half of which were built by Ford. And that iconic 7slat grill that all you jeep lovers love.... ya that was designed by Ford. Even the name "Jeep" is slang for the original name designated to the vehicle by Ford "GP"
Not solely by Ford….but Willys, Bantam and Ford. The Ford built units were the “GPW”. It has 9 slats

My m38 sees the light of day every so often…

I always figured the old jeeps were like the tote goats of dirt bikes... if you wanna go fast, get something else...

The difference between TJ & YJ Jeep are these:

  • Generation: TJ Jeep was the second generation of Jeep Wrangler & the YJ model was their first generated Jeep Wrangler.
  • Model name: Jeep designed each model with a unique name so that they can recognize it at once. YJ means “Yuppie Jeep,” & TJ means “Trendy Jeep.”
  • Production Period: YJ’s production was from 1986-1995 in the USA & Canada. On the other hand, TJ’s production was from 1997-2006.
  • Body style: TJ jeep is a 2-door convertible, whereas the YJ model was also a 2-door convertible jeep.
  • Headlights: YJ model’s headlights were the uniqueness of this model; it has square headlights. But the TJ model has circular headlights.
  • Other names: YJ model of Jeep was called as Beijing Jeep & Jeep Sahara. Later TJ model jeeps were also called Jeep Sahara & Jeep TJL in Egypt.
There are many specific differences between these two models, like; the wheels, weight, manufacturer, and so on. But the major differences are the previously discussed ones.

the YJ started out as Your jeep and quicky changed to yuppie jeep by those that worry about what others think, and only do what the trendys do, so the TJ was introduced for all the trendy people

for me, I could give a shit if the lights are round or square... I'll be looking out the windshield while the trendy's are watching me drive by ... the money maker here is to leave as stock as possible.... un molested low miles is the key..

TJ is my favorite. I loved the one I had, it was just too small for a car seat and stroller. I would have never sold it. The 3.5’s are junk. The straight 4 liter is the best Jeep motor. At the end of the day, I needed a 4 door until we can go back to a sxs. I looked forever to finally find a manual. This Jeep will be fun for the winter, but it will be on the chopping block in February. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Cool find. I know you generally buy things and then hold onto them forever....😂 but I'd be a buyer on that one if the asking was realistic for a 35 year old base model 4 banger. I'll be patiently awaiting the for sale thread. 👍

The little four cylinder is no fun on the freeways, but you can off road for days on a tank of gas. I had a '95, in black. Towed it behind our overcab camper all over the place. It was a blast. Pretty darn gutless, but a blast. Perfect for what you are planning to do with it.

My square eyed brother:cool:
This started as a $900 jeep with a blown motor. They're cool once you remove every jeep part other than the body. I built it up in 2006-2008, stretched the wheelbase on leafs with 1 ton axles .. ..It was stolen 2010.....gone 3 years.......I found it browsing RaceDezert.com classifieds and got it back (long story) then did the new cage/seats/4/link 3/link fuel cell/ dash etc etc. I'd be rich if had stayed stolen 😁
