So Lenmann over in the classic boat section, has been creating some pretty bad ass stuff. I really liked his dropforged, parting line, closet hook, transom blocks. So in keeping up with Lenmann, I had to come up with something different for a transom block. I called these blocks “D”blocks. In the last pic, you can see where the “D” came from. This was not entirely my original design. Any of RDs members will remember there was a problem with this part. The problem was with the geometry. But I fixed the geometry and here it is. The ball is in your court Lenmann! OH IT’S ON! 🤓

Damn, those look great. Nice tight edge radii, great transitions/blends, and crisp surface finish. If they were mine I'd skip the polisher and go straight to anodize keeping the kellering as a design feature.

Regrettably I am going to have to concede on the challenge as I am pretty much done fabbing parts for my beast, just waiting on anodize and final assembly to finish her up.

I will admit that I had a moment there, after cocktail or two, where I thought "oh HELL yeah" I'm gonna run out and buy a VMC and show this Toolman dude a thing or two. Then I came to my senses. Of course that condition is always subject to change...

Nice work regardless.

Can’t wait to see that boat put together.

Got the parts back from the polisher and then got clear anodized. They look outstanding. Took Lenmann’s advice and we did not polish out the kellering lines from the CNC. We machined Delrin bushings and pressed them in and ended up having to skim the inside to take out a few thousands.

I really love the TRM. These transom blocks were machined just on that machine only. I did it as a test. It really is easier to use on little small jobs like boring out these bushings. The hand wheels are pretty handy. It’s way faster to put a part in the vise, pick up the edges, and set your zero.
