It’s seems to me, if destroying America’s middle-class is your goal, these are the things you would do.

How frightening is it if all of this is exactly to plan?

We have term limits: They are called elections, what we need is a way to level the playing field so average statesmen can have a fighting chance in a fair election. We need to break the stranglehold of the duopoly and stop looking at the lesser of two evils at the ballot box. We need to educate people to stop voting based on brand equity and look and understand how a platform can impact their personal values. Think for a moment about why a successful and effective leader would consider public service? The housing costs in DC are impossible, the salary is $174K, and the role was never meant to be a career, how on earth do we accept that politicians become multi-millionaire is an apathetic response from an uneducated citizenry. Corruption is a foregone conclusion. To top it off a single-term Congressman receives a life time insurance policy that rivals that of our veterans for a shorter term with less risk. I've met adolescent Congressional representatives that shower at the gym and sleep in the closet-sized office because they can't afford to house. In contrast career, politicians have swanky living conditions. They did not get that on a $174K gross annual salary. Why should I run for congress? The salary is not attractive when compared to my current lifestyle. The role attracts the least favorable characters of our colony, who are investing in the opportunity to hustle some corrupt side deals and leverage the power.

Your call for term limits makes sense until we consider my next point.


California Has Term Limits, does it yield the desired outcome? Let me peel back the onion, as I used to work for an advocacy group and spent time in both the California legislation and in DC. In California the lobby groups don't spend as much effort building a relationship with the elected official, they spend the bulk of their effort influencing the Chief of Staff. The "Chief" is an unelected paid position that serves the elected official, they are passed around like a cheap whore when a Legislator is termed out. Example: Congressman Orange Large Font, is termed out, he has endorsed Ziggy in the upcoming election and because people vote party line and this district is in Orange County, Ziggy wins. LOF, hands over a complete staff of qualified people to Ziggy. Mandolin the Chief of Staff welcomes Ziggy on his first day. Mandy has been in Sacramento for 20 years, he knows all the right people and how to work the system. Mandy sets the agenda, and the daily activities and leads Ziggy through the quagmire of the swamp. Ziggy wants to do a good job, so he follows Mandy's lead. When Ziggy tries to push his agenda, mandy warns him that he is new and that is not how things work. Who is representing the good people of Irvine? Yes, Mandy is. It takes years to build those relationships, Ziggy does not have much time with only two terms to build these relationships. In fact, none of the elected officials have time to build relationships, but you know who does? The Chief of Staff. They stay forever and do not have the same limitations that elected officials do. If you are an advocacy group, you target the Chiefs. Do you want this to happen at the federal level?
Are the term limits in California working? The California Legislation has been controlled by Democrats since 1970 except for a two-year period.

When you say term limits, what you may mean is you want a way to get leadership from other states out of positions of power. Let's be honest, we want the Nancy Pelosi type leaders of the world out of the office and we don't have a way to do this.

My guess is that the people of the Bay area, think Nancy is doing a great job for them, she has risen to a position of power that provides not only the agenda of their far left-leaning platform on a national stage but also allows for lucrative funding opportunities for the State, the donors, and lobbyists that support her re-election activities. If they like her, why should someone from Arizona be able to usurp the power that they all have invested in? When we lived in Reno, I heard stories from old-timers about how they hated Harry Reid, but still supported his re-election in an effort to maintain Nevada's influence Federally as he was Senate Majority Leader. Nevada stood to lose a lot of Harry lost. What happens when you get a good leader that represents you and they term out?

Let me wave my magic wand and make a wish. What if Elon Musk put up a grant for any average citizen to apply for that provided funding and expertise to wage a serious campaign to beat every career politician in the next four election cycles? Throw his weight behind knocking Nancy, Chuck, Elizabeth, Mitch, Bernie, Feinstein, and the rest of the corrupt gang that lacks integrity. Would you set aside your personal life, and business to face the scrutiny of your opponent's attacks and put your family at risk for $174K a year and lifetime access to healthcare? The one catch is that you sign an agreement with the American People that you can't earn any additional money while in the office outside your previous income, you have to step down after you serve four terms and you must represent your constituents above all.

We the People could do the same thing if we really wanted. We don't need Elon, if we get involved, participate and hold our elected officials accountable. Too hard you think? Let me tell you from experience, I was able to help influence a freshman Congressmen who I helped get elected to submit a bill I wrote which became HR1676 in 2013. The bill passed the house and was later included in the National Defense Authorization Act which passed and became the law that established the first Congressionally designated OHV area. Essentially reserving the same protection for OHV recreation that a wilderness area has.

The easy thing is to call for Term Limits, but it also carries a burden that might be worse and much harder to unwind. The harder thing is to participate.

Some, who I feel are more successful and brighter than myself, feel that we are far from losing enough to provoke a response.

In some ways, I must agree. There are still many comfortable in their homes and their abilities to purchase their needs. Well, currently at least. The problem is not the "distance" between the slope and the cliff, it's how fast that distance can be covered.

I don't think most believed it would have been possible to move so many facets of the economy towards the abyss in under 18 months. While the masses were blinded by covid, certain death, the gears were turning.

It's been said that the powerful will plunder a dying country's coffers near the bottom. It was seen in Argentina, Germany, USSR and many others at different points. Spurred by war or collapse, "take the money and run". There are powers at play that have, in effect, bought both sides of the aisle.

The "Chief" is an unelected paid position that serves the elected official, they are passed around like a cheap whore when a Legislator is termed out. Example: Congressman Orange Large Font, is termed out, he has endorsed Ziggy in the upcoming election and because people vote party line and this district is in Orange County, Ziggy wins. LOF, hands over a complete staff of qualified people to Ziggy. Mandolin the Chief of Staff welcomes Ziggy on his first day. Mandy has been in Sacramento for 20 years, he knows all the right people and how to work the system. Mandy sets the agenda, and the daily activities and leads Ziggy through the quagmire of the swamp. Ziggy wants to do a good job, so he follows Mandy's lead. When Ziggy tries to push his agenda, mandy warns him that he is new and that is not how things work. Who is representing the good people of Irvine? Yes, Mandy is. It takes years to build those relationships, Ziggy does not have much time with only two terms to build these relationships. In fact, none of the elected officials have time to build relationships, but you know who does? The Chief of Staff. They stay forever and do not have the same limitations that elected officials do. If you are an advocacy group, you target the Chiefs. Do you want this to happen at the federal level?
Are the term limits in California working? The California Legislation has been controlled by Democrats since 1970 except for a two-year period.

When you say term limits, what you may mean is you want a way to get leadership from other states out of positions of power. Let's be honest, we want the Nancy Pelosi type leaders of the world out of the office and we don't have a way to do this.

My guess is that the people of the Bay area, think Nancy is doing a great job for them, she has risen to a position of power that provides not only the agenda of their far left-leaning platform on a national stage but also allows for lucrative funding opportunities for the State, the donors, and lobbyists that support her re-election activities. If they like her, why should someone from Arizona be able to usurp the power that they all have invested in? When we lived in Reno, I heard stories from old-timers about how they hated Harry Reid, but still supported his re-election in an effort to maintain Nevada's influence Federally as he was Senate Majority Leader. Nevada stood to lose a lot of Harry lost. What happens when you get a good leader that represents you and they term out?

Let me wave my magic wand and make a wish. What if Elon Musk put up a grant for any average citizen to apply for that provided funding and expertise to wage a serious campaign to beat every career politician in the next four election cycles? Throw his weight behind knocking Nancy, Chuck, Elizabeth, Mitch, Bernie, Feinstein, and the rest of the corrupt gang that lacks integrity. Would you set aside your personal life, and business to face the scrutiny of your opponent's attacks and put your family at risk for $174K a year and lifetime access to healthcare? The one catch is that you sign an agreement with the American People that you can't earn any additional money while in the office outside your previous income, you have to step down after you serve four terms and you must represent your constituents above all.

We the People could do the same thing if we really wanted. We don't need Elon, if we get involved, participate and hold our elected officials accountable. Too hard you think? Let me tell you from experience, I was able to help influence a freshman Congressmen who I helped get elected to submit a bill I wrote which became HR1676 in 2013. The bill passed the house and was later included in the National Defense Authorization Act which passed and became the law that established the first Congressionally designated OHV area. Essentially reserving the same protection for OHV recreation that a wilderness area has.

The easy thing is to call for Term Limits, but it also carries a burden that might be worse and much harder to unwind. The harder thing is to participate.

In hindsight I should have pulled and tossed the swamp drainplug when I had the power, even if that included myself getting sucked down the drain.
Driving home from Longbeach today it just so happened that I saw that very sticker on a car.."drain the swamp" which caused me to even say to my wife that our career politicians should all be replaced with "real people", common folk.
Interestingly, I had zero idea this thread topic had been posted but proves these thoughts & concerns among our population is high on thier list.

Yes I’m sure there was… was it enough to overturn the election? I don’t think we will ever know the truth. And for the record im Not blaming this on Trump or JB. I think they both have a hand in what we are seeing today. I’m 100% open to what can be proved to me.
