What oil?

I bought an 2008 25 Daytona with a Merc 525. I want to change the oil and filter. She has 150 hrs on her. What is the BEST oil and weight to use? I have read, Amsoil, Mobil-1, Raceline and Kendall all mentioned. And of course Merc 25w40. Changing it out this thursday in Havasu. Thanks for any input.

Well you have 150 hrs to go so I would use what made it the first 150 hrs.

used merc 25/40 and currently ams dominator 15/ 50 holds a little more oil pessure at idle when fully warmed up I personally think synthetics should be better, merc now makes a syn blend haven't tried it, the price of amsoil is insane and if were to change I would try Mobil one or the merc blend use mobil in about everything I own from the vette to the lawn tractor seems to work well.

forgot to say my eng is 525 efi, and I like a 15/50 for weight unless you go with Merc oil

I use Mobil 1, 15w-50 in my Topcat with the 525. I’ve got about the same hours as you do.

I like Amsoil.. I run the 20-50 Zrod.
15W-50 DOMINATOR RACING OIL needs to be changed more often then others.
You would have great luck with Amsoil ARO
Great stuff has storage protection look into this you won’t be disappointed

I use Mobil 1, 15w-50 in my Topcat with the 525. I’ve got about the same hours as you do.

Not a 525 here but also use Mobil1 15W50 with good results.

I’m a huge Mobil 1 fan. We scoped the engine in my old Navigator with 330K just for fun. After putting the camera inside and looking around, it was pristine. Absolutely no build up. Pretty amazing really. I run it in everything from blower and turbo motors to 9000 rpm V8‘s. Never been disappointed.

My old man works on engines that run hundreds(if not thousands) of hours on without stopping and they run Pegasus 1 which is Mobil 1 with a different addiditive package. We've run Mobil 1 15-50 for years in boats from 300hp to 1100 hp with no issue.

15w - 40 delo or 15w - 50 mobil one. Hard to go wrong with either one. Been running mobil 1 for years in my lake boats. Bearings come out looking brand new.
