Born and raised there, on the plus side the weather, location and things to do, it does have everything or at least a lot of things going for it, I used to love it living in Orange Co and San Diego Co, my God its a beautiful place with the mountians and oceans at your beckon call, absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But enter the politics and the glamour rapidly disappears plus the population mix has become a giant no for me.
After living there for nearly 60 years it became unbearable, at least to me so we moved to Arizona 20 years ago and havent looked back, good move, I dont know but I believe so after reading what is happening there nowadays. If you dont know what Im talking about then you aint paying attention or just blind to it.
I ll take this backwoods little town of Havasu, which has its drawbacks no doubt but In my opinion I prefer living here.
So if you like So Cal please stay there, or dont bring your politics with you when you come
PEACE

Shabarum park.. Cold Duck playing. Cool breeze everyone is pretty mellow. One thing I noticed, LaHabra Heights starts their concerts with The National Anthem and Flag Salute. Whittier does the Flag Salute. Shabarum park doesn't do any, LA County Board of Supv. are bullshit. Oh yeah about 72 right now.

Isn’t La Habra Heights and Whittier in LA County? A guy at work went to a concert in the park in LaMirada tonight. 3 bands playing at once in different Parts of the park.

Yes they are, but incorporated cities. La mirada park is cool, but Cold Duck has been together in some form for 40 years. Me and my friends will do 3-4 nights if concerts when we can't make the river. Wife and oldest are at James Taylor at kleopto in dtla.
Politics aside so much to do here.

I read on Riverdaves that the bums are everywhere. No exclusions.... I think I saw 3 bums total today, I drove from Dog beach down PCH to Beach blvd. Granted, I'm not driving down alleys or dumpster digging, but maybe many riverdavers are....?

First off who the fuck is Michael Shellenberger? 2nd, why are you posting his alleged friend's gay drama in here? How do we know the naked man isn't Michael Shellenberger's friend's gay lover and that and he's just trying to get back at him? He states, "this is the new normal in L.A." and you believe him...?

Could you be more gullible?
Yeah, I'll call bullshit on that one too. Naked dude or Chick walking around in a house they are not supposed to be in with only a hospital bracelet is not getting ignored by even the most lazy PD out there.

As for the Bums.... open your eyes dude. There is zero denying what California is turning into and they are EVERYWHERE. Sure if you are in a high dollar area or city there might be codes in place that the City has actually told their PD they want it enforced, but they are still there, just not on every major sidewalk. I wish it were not true.

I was born & raised in Iowa only to find San Diego when I was 18 going to boot camp. Loved it then & still do. I don't understand why the state is so far left, bat-ass crazy, because 90% of the people we know & run into are normal minded people who don't buy into how much the gov't loves them, how they have the people & climate in their best interest.

Anyway, we're going to have breakfast at the beach today & then some of the best BBQ around, at Valley Farm Outpost, in the Laguna Mountains this afternoon. In Iowa, it's hot, humid & storming as I type this but 72 degrees & sunny as always here.

Just sayin' ,

I've lived in Southern California since 1967. There's always been bums here just like every other state and city. Has the problem worsened because our politicians are horrible? Certainly! As I've said before, I don't go into the bowels of every city searching for all the bums nor do I ever plan to. Just going about my life, they aren't a problem in the areas I frequent. If I were a cop on patrol in downtown L.A. I'd probably be fed up. The place I've seen the most bums in the last 5 years was actually Honolulu.

Yup, sure does suck here😀

We have a vacation joint in the South Bay, call it “the bubble.” Regarding the subject of the homeless situation, really don’t see much, if any. I’m sure most cities have laws on the books regarding overnight structures. Is it so simple that the beach cities enforce these rules, the so-called “high dollar areas,” and others do not? Innocent question, I don’t know the facts.

We NEVER see tents overnight on the beach or in the parks. I can say my neighbors and us respect and appreciate our professional police officers.

Today.

There were 4 people shot in Mission Beach last night, what used to be a normal beach, tourist, partying place but last few years thugs are everywhere. And before people start preaching how people with tats, and people without money need to be accepted, we're talking about thugs, gang banging, white, black or brown, tattoos or no tattoos, POS's. Big difference between thugs & people who just aren't the norm.
There were several shootings at the Coaster on the boardwalk not too long ago. They harass, talk shit & cause trouble every day. Had a dude last week who looked straight out of Compton, walking down the boardwalk, blasting a 3 foot long boom box as loud as he could, chomping on a cigar, top hat, & looking straight into every persons eyes as he walks by them looking for some shit. This is the new norm & anybody saying we need to be tolerant is a dumbass.

Time to put these Mofos back in place. I'd be cool with the gangsters if they wouldn't cause shit & shoot people, but...." - Jet496

Chicago weekend scorecard, 53 shot, 7 fatal. All black on black. You won’t hear this on network TV but about a normal weekend in Chicago.

The state with the highest population also has the most homeless.... Shocking. Like I said many times already, find me a state that better serves my hobbies and interests and I'll consider moving there. :)

lol...ok

Yeah CA has alot of people. They also have close to 1/3 of the entire countries homeless.

Texas has 30 million people and only 27k homeless.

Nobody that left CA left because the weather sucked. We left because the politics, taxes and cost no longer pencil and for the most part it's a shit place to raise kids.

Don’t leave out the fact that most people just hide inside their air conditioned houses and don’t take full advantage of all this state has to offer. Driving to and from work with the masses in horrible traffic and weekends playing fantasy sports from the couch. Why not move if thats their lives….

That’s certainly not how I do it.

You guys know that California has other areas beside LA, San Francisco, and the OC right? Lots of people still live in this state and don’t deal with the dreaded traffic you all fear sooo much and it’s not from their couch or from behind a keyboard!

Didn’t I already make the I hate California thread for all you cry baby’s?

Go bump that thread again and don’t forget to ad the car accident the lady from Texas caused!

You're pretty vocal against CA, what state do you live in?

California is a beautiful state with way too many people for me. I lived there from 1984-2014. We had a beautiful 12-acre ranch that got surrounded by crappy tract homes. Then they ran the storm drain from those crappy tract homes through part of our property via eminent domain. It took thirty minutes to drive 3 miles from our ranch to the interstate. Our water bill went from $150/mo to $700/mo in 8 years with less than half the amount being watered. It was 3 hours of traffic to the mountains or the beach and all were fully booked from April - October. There was no escape from the heat in the summer, though I'm told California has great weather. ;) (I know, in a few places it does, but I would argue the majority of the state does not). We realized it was no longer the place for us, even though it was Sportin' Wood's childhood home. So we left and have not regretted it. But I'm very glad that so many people love it and want to stay. Again, it's a beautiful state, just too crowded, IMO.

To answer your question, Dan, I live in Western Montana and spend the winters in Arizona.

Regardless, there are not bums panhandling and living in tent cities in every city. I saw one panhandler in Havasu last winter. I remember noticing him because I had not seen one since we left Reno the previous June. I saw another one here in Montana over Independence Day. She was way too clean to be homeless, just a beggar. It didn't look like she was having much luck. Having spent considerable time in Coeur d'Alene, Sandpoint, Moab, Hurricane/St. George, Havasu, Cottonwood AZ, Cortez and Durango CO, and around Flathead Lake MT, this past year, I can tell you, there are not bums in every city. Granted, there are probably homeless people, but you don't see them regularly on streetcorners and freeway off-ramps like you do in California. There are no tent cities in any of those places. That was my point. Thank you for allowing me to clarify it.

It's important to enjoy where you live. I'm glad that you do. We no longer did. That's why we left.

Yep just sitting on the couch playing fantasy sports…lol

Or a car cruise to the north rim of the Grand Canyon or maybe a float down a river with the family or perhaps golf or soccer with the kid up north. Can’t forget good old garage time with my son working on his miata.

We try to stay pretty active even though the weather is terrible🤣🤪😜

Southern California is not on this list from the Real Estate doom and gloom thread so at least while we might still live in this shithole, we don't have to tighten our hats or hold onto our belts..

In red-hot Boise, home prices are apparently 73% above what the fundamentals support, which clearly isn’t good.

Nice!

Didn’t you move to St. George? My mom and brother moved there 20 years ago. Very scenic! The weather could be worse. 😎

You know I like the car scene! Which River is that?

Did you move your office also. Or is it still in Tustin, CA. 🤷‍♂️
