Bittersweet first thread.
Our daughter was involved in the Rt 91 Harvest Festival shooting. Some friends died, some wounded, some survived. She was one of the lucky ones.
We've had a home in Vegas for over 12 years while our daughters went to college.
The Golden knights hockey game was the first big event our daughter attended after the shooting.
58 seconds of silence for those who died.
I just got tickets for tomorrow Knights playoff game for my wife and our daughter.
Wife is leaving out of vegas to meet her highschool girlfriends in Florida so it's good times for both of them.

I'm glad to hear your daughter made it through this event unharmed. There are board members who had friends and family that weren't quite as lucky.

It's cool to see that this incident isn't being forgotten by the hockey team.

great tribute....too bad that for the main stream media and the rest of the US, the largest mass shooting in US history has gone completely off the radar...no real answers, b.s. press releases, etc.
We were there and experienced all the OP described....the most horrific experience I hope to ever encounter...
while I personally had no physical injuries, the psyche is a weird place. on a return trip from Reno to o.c. just last night, we had a stop in vegas..just looking at the Manadalay as we took off brought that night right back...

vegas strong.....

We were on a rv trip up by Zion national park and our daughter texted us that night and said there was a shooter and that she was ok.
Never in a million years did we expect the magnitude of the situation when we turned on the news the next morning.
Strangers in the Tropicana took our daughter and her friend into their hotel room for the night.
Her bosses husband still has a bullet in his back.
Daughter has been on an emotional roller coaster and has done counseling.
She does interior design and works with a lot of casinos. Last week she had to go through the side door of the Tropicana where her and her girlfriend ran into that night. Another break down but fortunately the hotel manager knew our daughter and did a nice job of comforting her.
This week she has to go into the Mandalay Bay.
I got an extra ticket for tonight's game for her boss. Still difficult for them to go to big events.

We went to a kings game there right after the shooting and they did the same thing.

Yup - The only problem was the wrong team won!
It was even more exciting since I watched the game at the neighbor's home and they're from canada.
This is hilarious. Fleury having some fun with one of the Jets after a fight. That ear got pretty beat up, lol.

Well done guys!
Fleury is amazing.
Anybody find it odd that Jets call it a white out and they're all wearing white?
including the Knights:)

As much as Vegas is trying to push it under the rug, the community isn't forgetting at all.

Pushing aside is normal, as is remembering the tragedy in moments of silence.
It will end up changing the future of similar events just like the MGM fire in the late 70's changed hotel fire systems worldwide.

Going to my first outdoor concert next week since my Vegas experience. Already a little queasy since it is so close to the anniversary of Route 91.

Good thread. Glad your daughter didn't get hurt.
I don't think we will ever know the real story...

I just took my buddy who was there to his first outdoor concert a couple of weeks ago. First moment of pause was security was pretty lax, no patdown, no metal detectors. We have been to a few indoors but this was the first outdoor one. He had one minor freakout but I put him against a fence and stood between him and the crowd. He calmed down and we had a good time. As long as you are with people you trust it will be all good and there is no shame in saying I can't handle this right now. No shame in walking out and heading to a bar either. Go with people that are cool with doing that and everything should be fine. What concert are you going to?

A group of us went to the reunion as well, some of they brought their harleys so they could do they ride down Vegas Blvd. They told me everyone flipped off the Mandalay on their way by.

They're doing a vigil tomorrow at the concert site, supposed to turn the lights off in Vegas at 10:05 p.m.

Vegas didn't do anything last night after everyone anticipated lights out at 10:05pm in memory of the 58 lives lost.
This was her response,

#vegasstronger...?? I had many mixed emotions after waking up on the 1 year anniversary of 1 October seeing this updated hashtag; most of my thoughts were not positive. Yesterday was rough. The Survivors think about the massacre daily, but yesterday brought everything rushing back in such a larger magnitude. I didn’t know if I wanted to post anything; I didn’t know what to say. All day I was thinking about the 58 innocent lives we lost, the injured, the 1st responders, and the fellow Survivors who now suffer daily. I made the choice to join my Route 91 family back at the site where I was fortunate enough to make it out alive. Looking up at the Mandalay Bay & joining hands at 10:05pm around the site was a true healing moment. I question our new #vegasstronger when we are told the lights on the Strip are to dim and nothing happened; not one MGM property paid respects. It was quite disgusting & highly disappointing. Are we #vegasstronger? Or is this another ploy by this corrupt city to move on?

Thank you to those of you who reached out with such kind messages yesterday. I was overwhelmed with the support I have in my life; so many touching words that were said that I am so grateful for. Thank you to those of you who checked in on me throughout the day. We are the #stronger.

The MGM properties along with others did change their marquees to #vegasstronger. But the lights did not go out.

A rather large group walked into the Mandalay and were chanting turn out the lights in the lobby. I'm pretty sure police blocked off the rest of the enormous crowd from entering.

There was enough people there to circle the entire venue and then some. The trucks I posted above stopped in the middle of Vegas Blvd and got the crowd going.

The whole experience has been surreal

Can't believe it's been 4 years.
We still remember the phone call that night when we were in Zion National park when our daughter called and said she was safe
We didn't know the magnitude of the shooting until the next morning.
Someone was watching over our daughter that night
Prayers to those that didn't get to see their loved ones come home and to those that suffered through it
This was from our daughter,

Fleury gone. He was good but started making mistakes

Fleury and Reeves leaving was sad for Vegas, they were the original misfits and they have done so much for this city, but sports is sports it's a business. They know how much Vegas loves them.

I was in Chicago when Route 91 happened, luckily everyone was understanding of how many phone calls I received that day. Some good and some bad.

5 years today. Still seems like yesterday when we got the text message about an active shooter.
Never knew the intensity of the situation until we turned on the news the next morning.

Our daughter is a survivor. It's a tough day today.
Her friend still has a bullet in his back from protecting his wife.

On a positive note she got elected to be part of designing the new memorial. She checked all the boxes as to being there , hometown, designer, etc.
They called her the unicorn lol

Sending love and hugs today
Be strong!

I watched the 11 Minutes Docuseries on Paramount Plus this weekend. It was good. As someone who wasn't there, it did a good job of showing what people went through. People helping others, and the reunion where survivors got to meet the people that saved them. It was very moving. I was really surprised how emotional the cops were just discussing it. It is worth a watch if you are up to it.

@185EZ , I'm glad your daughter is part of the process. It's unreal that it's been this long. I hope it does more for her healing, and not dredge up memories better left locked away.

I heard about it and called my brother in law...he was on the road, left early because he had an early shift the next day. It was still unclear at that point how many were injured and killed. The next day, I remember feeling sick, as I was so happy for my wife...her brother was safe, but so horrible that so many others weren't.

What happened to the shooter's wife?
Didn't he ship her back to Asia or something?
Can't believe she didn't know or see any of this coming.

Never heard anymore, but that was the last news I think. She was back in Asia, and the FBI interviewed her...but I don't believe she came back?

Or the Saudi Prince that was rushed out of one of the hotels that night......video disappeared quickly. Or the survivors with other theories and pictures that mysteriously died weeks afterwards.
