UP For Sale: 1978 Schiada 20SS
I bought the boat for $14K and put 3 full days into cutting & grinding. I am now selling the boat for $10,000.
I purchased this boat over the summer. I've already put lots of Demo work into ripping out the subfloors, transom, & bulkheads.
I was going to have new stringers, bulkhead, transom, gauge holes filled, capped, & re-gelled. I'd rather have someone purchase the hull the way it is to have their own desired gel scheme/floor finish/etc.
I have 2 Aluminum Fuel Tanks, T400 Tranny, Casale V-Drive, Shaft Log, Rudder, Coupler, & other riggings gear.
This is going to be an excellent project. I had a 1979 20SS for 12 years that ran great on the Parker Strip. The 20 SS's are one of the best river boats.
I am going to build a new race boat for GN, Enduro, & Waterski Racing. I will have the hull laid up lighter.
This comes with a dual axle trailer. Fenders come with the trailer as well.
I have the Pink Slips for both the Hull and trailer.
Everything is located in Westchester, CA.

Here's a thought.

-Pick up the hull + $15K of glass/gel work, You now have a pristine Schiada 20SS for $30K
-Find a 250HP-300HP Outboard and gear for $30K.
-Full Interior $5K
-Trailer Freshen $3K
-MISC Items $7K
-Sell Tranny/V-Drive/Misc Gear that come with the deal [-$3K]

You can walk away with a practically brand new Schiada 20SS for $72K.

Or if you know how to rig a V-Drive, you'll be in this for $75K as well for a Complete Rebuilt Schiada 20SS

Maybe this will increase the value of my 19' hull. 😎

(Not that it's for sale.)

I repainted & rewired my trailer with LED lights for around a $1,000 I also did a 5 color paint job & re did the floors on this old Hondo Tdeck for another $3,500 in materials. As far as the hours go, I quit counting somewhere around 200

Nice work right there!

Hell, if someone knows how to do glass work and paint on the hull, they could save a lot more $ and have a nice boat

It's a hard decision to end up selling this 20'. I just need to stay in the mindset of a lighter race boat over a bitchen river boat.

BUMP - NEW PRICE $14K. You'll get 3 full days of my time to cut and grind.

If you are good with glass/gel, you can get into a Schiada before next summer!

I can't THANK spotondl enough for selling me the Cav Hardware back so the boat is as complete as when I bought it. Thanks Bud!

Stainless Cavitation Hardware is included with the boat!

How much is this 20 going to be worth after its back in running condition?

All depends on the detail of new gel, power of motor, detail of rigging, etc

Rough guestimate: Probably $75k. Other nice v-drives are around that price range.

I'm looking forward to seeing this boat getting rigged. Going to be bad ass!

20'S are probably my favorite. The one I drove with mild power was a blast!

Does this really need stringers or could they just be reglassed and leave the floors open? I like the idea of open floors in a small boat, I know that sub floors are more comfortable.

I already started cutting into the stringer when I Demo'd everything. I left the stringers in so the boat wouldn't warp when I towed it to my buddies shop. Since all the glass work is getting done, do it right and install new stringers.

I had open floors in my blown 20SS. I loved it. Save weight. Easy to wash. Easy to inspect.

If I was to rig this boat, It would be with open flooring.

The 20SS is a perfect mix between a Flatty and an 21' RC. Cuts through a lot of the rough shit and still rips like a flatty.

I feel the same way, I'd love to get a ride in a 20ss and see how it compares to my 21' Rayson. Rough dimensions wise I feel they're pretty similar.

I hope someone gets this project rolling soon

The 20 I drove felt lighter than the 21. I think a lot of that could be seating position, you sit down inside a 21 a little more and the 20 you sit on, if that makes sense.

The 20's Pull!

One time at Roadrunner, it's about midnight and I pull some chick from the bar. My 20' was sitting there all purddy looking and giving every dude in the bar a fat chubby. The chick I was working on hops on my boat and says she wants to go for a ride. I idle right out front in the middle of the river, rail the shit outta her, and tie back up to the dock with her thong wrapped around my scoop. The Bar went wild
