    Anyone else scared to fly?

So... fear that your pilots are incompetent? Or just general fear of not being in control? There is a difference. If it's the former you can say so without offending me. Because I'm seriously curious about this phobia. -Peter

    Anyone else scared to fly?

It's a phobia so it's not rational. Your brain knows how safe it is, no matter how hellish it is outside at 550mph at say 41,000 feet (physiologically not much different from space). But can you put a finger on any particular thing about it that scares you? Fear of crashing? Fear of turbulence...

    AC/DC Melbourne

Small world. I practically grew up in Kooyong. Hawthorn Hawks fan, (surprise). But moved to California for Uni. Only been back for visits or to play cricket tournaments with my old mates, since. Miss it. I will say that you would very much like boating out here in the big desert lakes of the...

    VASECTOMY How bad is it?

Piece of cake for me. It was such a small thing I’m already starting to forget details. I can’t sleep unless I’m bathed or showered. I showered the same night even though they told me not to. Of course I wasn’t stupid about it and I didn’t soap and scrub the stitches. Took one day off work...

    Bahner Custom Boats

Correct, mine does have two forward facers... But it still has the same ski pole as yours in the photo... hmmm... Anyone know the general story of Rod Bahner? From what little I could tell, he's not that old, maybe mid-50's? Some people say he was dragged out into the desert off I-40 and...

    Bahner Custom Boats

Nice!!! Find more please. I wish I could find out more about my 18'er too, and it's history. Mine's an '87. I think yours is, too right? I wonder who's is newer? Mine doesn't have the swim step yours does. I wish it did. -Peter

Oh so he's the bastard at Swallow that snagged the prime spot I wanted, just because he had it together enough to get there before me. ;) -Peter

Support a company or not based on political beliefs of CEO/owner?

Those of us in our 40's and older, from Kali, still remember when it was Cali. Something has happened here, and not for the better. My working theory these days ties right into what you just said above... CA used to be the beacon of freedom and liberty for the entire world. Now, it leads the...

Definitely the it car for the well heeled suburban mom. A couple of years ago, it was the Escalade, now it's all Yukon Denali, all the time. My SIL, is married to a retired NFL football player. If I had a dime for every mansion in their neighborhood sporting a Tesla and a Denali, I could retire...

Not sure what your point is here, mate. It is generally not illegal or unwelcome to pass through a country as a visitor, on your way to another country where you intend to stay. So... Yes... They pass through Mexico... On their way here... Where they intend to stay. It's the staying that's the...

Dont Touch The Monkeys They Said

Might be getting firewalled. We got firewalled on and off in Shanghai a few weeks ago. Seems fairly standard in communist countries. -Peter

    OB's Epic River Trip.

It gets in your blood, doesn't it? And I didn't grow up with it like you did. I was nearly 40 a few years ago when I discovered boating and the river and lakes. So I've got to make up for lost time. Couldn't agree more, mate. And even though I get to go pretty often, I'm bummed every single...

Dont Touch The Monkeys They Said

Aaah, the 'Pies. Classic rivalry with the Hawks. I've been mostly into cricket since I left Oz for Uni back in the late 80's, (easier to follow internationally), although the last test series with India was not the greatest moment for the Baggy Green either. On topic, I love Southeast Asia...

Vasectomy, questions for the members that have done this....

Mine, he cut about a half in section out of each tube, (and showed each section to me) so they couldn't reach each other to grow back together... which is apparently something that has happened before. Then laser cauterized all four cut ends. -Peter

Do we have an immigration problem? Immigration is an above-board process of application, interview, vetting, etc and as far as I can tell works pretty much as intended for the applicants who participate in an above-board fashion. Circumvention of that process is criminal invasion, even if they...

All that is true, but you don't need that level of justification in order for it to be reasonable to control your borders. Every country should control it's borders and most do. Even Mexico does. So does Australia, and New Zealand, and Canada, and... blah blah blah. Why should we be any...

Vasectomy, questions for the members that have done this....

Diffrent strokes... My only question is... "Why not?" An uncut pit bull's life isn't ruined by reckless reproduction. But yours??? Travis Henry, 30, a former N.F.L. running back who played for three teams from 2001 to 2007, has nine children ? each by a different mother, some born as...

Vasectomy, questions for the members that have done this....

Aaah, the Valium... I'm kind of boring and conservative. No tattoos or piercings, don't use drugs, haven't really drank very much since college. I wasn't interested in the Valium shot. But there were two other guys, young tatted, hip, and they BOTH said, "Valium? Hell yeah!!!" Me and the other...

I go with my gut on things like that. Bezos and Muskie are both in favor of an utterly idiotic and ultimately dangerous, "universal income". Every time things like that have been tried, it's ended up with gulags and genocide (Cuba, Soviet Union, China...) Yet, I shop Amazon, even though Bezos is...
