When my bud and I did the Trans-America Trail in 2018 we shipped our dirtbikes out to TN in a good size home-made crate. It was just 2x4's and ply. We built the base, added eyelets, strapped the bikes down and then built the sides and lids...

i remember hearing a lot of those 70's vintage boats were laid up a lot thicker + used different materials which helped them be more prone to cracks like that.

not an elegant solution, but you could run a 8 into 4 and then a 4 into 8 connector, assuming you dont have a 4pin off to the right of that 8pin, if thats the case, just run a 8 into 4 and be done
outside of that, you'll be doing some wiring.

They're def great bikes for sure. I'd personally pick up a GasGas 300, but i just have to be different.
I still have my 2000 KX500 in a 2002 KX250 frame. Its a fun bike, but i should sell it to someone who actually would use it.

this is no joke...
when I bought my Rayson the op arm on the plate assembly was stripped because of this. The plates bound up once you get a bit past center on both directions and it ended up sheering the key.
