Cool stuff. I have seen that picture of Leonard and I think his brother. The picture says "First Schiada" but that could have ended with nothing or anything (vdrive, OB or whatever...)
Pretty neat that my boat has that same center stringer and side stingers that go around the sides of the boat...
I have been trying to dig up some history on early on Schiadas. If anyone has any old history they are holding back, lets hear it.
Here is a wood Schiada that I came across in my reaserch so far. For a moment I thought it may be mine, but the trailer and side stripe are a little different...
Got the motor back last week from TG 's Performance Engine Shop in Gardena. After a $5.2k swipe of the card, we should be back in buisness. Tony at TG went through the entire motor and found all the clearences were to tight and a bunch of mismatched parts were installed by the previous motor...
Picked up a 3 blade prop from Oggie in Santa Ana. Booger Ray let me try one off his boat, but the shaft was too long.
Cutting Edge Propellers 714 318 2027
While the motor is in the shop, I removed the motor rails and steering brackets, ect..., cleaned them up, got them polished and bolted up for good. Hopefully next time we drop the motor in, it stays in.
I also took my Velvet drive to get rebuilt as it started leaking from the rear main seal...
We cut the drive shaft to length, keyed it and put it in. I went through the entire boat, double checked and tightened every bolt as we were anticipating brining it to the river this weekend to test. While we went to fire it up again to tune, she bent a rod. o_O
Just when you think your hard...
Well... the old girl had a heart beat this weekend.
My Uncle Bruce wired the boat the past 2 Saturdays. With a little bit of timing adjustment Bruce, Andrew, Papa, Dad and I got her fired up. The old girl lit up and sounded great. No fuel leaks in the hard lines... thank god. I did have a...
Got most of the motor parts I made polished up. Got the tanks mounted and plumbed up. Throttle cable knocked out.
Up next:
Wiring & Gauges
shifter linkage
wire up coil.
Was able to make the bracket to hold the fuel pump and fuel filter. completed the Hard line from the regulator to the fuel filter.
Battery mounted behind seat in center bulkhead.
Have not posted in a long time... but shit has been getting done as of late. Most of the things getting knocked out are just the small things that take time and get over looked.
- 1/2 way done with waterlines. Black hose and stainless fittings from Teague.
- Started the hard line for the fuel...
Love the tabs.
I put Smart Tabs on mine (I think model SX9510-30). They made a hug difference and it was almost like an automatic down petal since they adjusted with water pressure on the fly. Only way I was able to get on plane with that prop in the picture. I actually bought some small...
For sale.. Unless the other Schiada I have my eye on is sold.
Boat floats.. runs and turns. Its an OB. Hits 80MPH with a gentle breeze going down river.
