Like the title says, which software does everyone prefer? In digging around on Ls1 tech, its seems about as polarized as ford vs chevy. I'm not a fan of the "credits" concept with HP Tuners, but I'm likely only going to be doing 3 vehicles in the next 5 years, so not a big issue.
FWIW, this...
Without knowing what boat (I have a hunch it starts with an H and ends with a T) and power, is it possible that you don't really need to replace the KC? I understand if it's busted, parts are becoming scarce, and it would be better to swap it out. But based on the fact that OD1 says you don't...
At least finding the length of the lower is pretty straightforward. Just measure from the junction with the upper to the centerline of the prop shaft. Then you can compare that to the known bravo dimension. As far as ratio, short of pulling the lower off it's kind of hard to tell.
Btw, thanks...
By checking with a digital timing light, you bypass the coil, at least in so much as not being connected to it. If it's bad to the point where you're effectively missing, you'd feel it, especially under load.
You might do some research on the exact Imco lower you have, I know some of them had...
I can think of a bunch of different things to try that should hit the mid 60s mark....
Obviously verify the tach. If you want, just rent a digital timing light and you can verify pretty easily what your current tach is doing. Beats dropping $$ for a new set of gauges to find out the tach you...
Brick stock 350mag carb. 60.2 at 4700, 2 200lb guys, and .25 tank of fuel. Had to wing it for a good half mile to mile at wot messing with trim to get it ;)
There was a guy outta San Diego with a 22 running a 5 blade, remember seeing the boat online and wondering how it ran. The general consensus is that the boat likes 3 blades, but there is only 1 way to know what will work with your setup/needs. I guess if you could find a 23 or 25 p5x used, it...
Laser II 21p. Good for 46-4700in July on Havi on a carbed 350 mag.
Depending on a few things(mainly if I'll be using the boat more than last year), I'll probably have that labbed this year.
With 10k as your budget, take 2-2.5k right off the top for steering and a new prop. That realistically reduces your options to stuff like:
1. Heads, cam, carb, & used manifolds/headers
2. Heads, cam, cheaper EFI system running existing exhaust
3. Buying a complete used engine (supply...
So in getting things sorted out on the Scarab for this summer, I noticed one of the rectangular PVS plugs on my Laser is missing. This raises a couple questions...
1. I looked online but my foo must be lacking because I couldn't find the rectangular plugs. Anyone got a source?
2. What are...
What about a whipple EFI setup on your 7.4? Swap the pistons, maybe can, go through the heads t MSKE sure the valves/springs are good, and call it done?
You'll get options all over the map until you attach a price tag to your question. Once you have a firm budget, you can really prioritize...
Personally I'm a fan of the 6.2 package in this size boat. Takeouts are available relatively inexpensively, they meet your EFI requirement, and I'm pretty sure whipple makes a kit for em ;)
Pretty sure Alexi at boostpower had mentioned something in another thread a while ago about getting...
The engine is only part of the issue with that setup. If you do a search on handling of the 22s, most people seem to feel they get a bit sketchy above 65-70. I have a 350 mag in mine, with an alpha, and the best I've done is 60.2 with two guys, a quarter tank, and basically not much else in the...
Can you visually inspect the ignition supply wire from the key to the box? The reason I ask is because an old butt connector somewhere along the line could be corroded and be intermittent. Not highly probable, but something you should check if everything else checks out fine.
Chris
Yeah,
Your own RO/DI system is a MUST have. You'll need to top off for evaporation using the RO/DI, then use that same RO/DI to mix your own saltwater. You should also invest in a TDS meter to verify the quality of the RO/DI water your system is generating, so you'll know when to replace your...
There are 2 ways you can go... well maybe three. First, you could become an ardent "hands on" hobbyist which includes: minoring in chemistry, engineering, marine biology, physics, and a host of other applicable skills. ;) This route requires patience, and TIME. The time demands of maintaining a...
I could see trailering... if they were there when I got the boat back from the last trip, but these cracks appeared after the boat had sat for a couple months. They weren't there when the cover went on after it came home from the last trip, or subsequent to that when I had the cover off. Just...
Take your pick ...

Actually, if you want to pick up in Havi, my brother is here today and tomorrow morning, and can take something back Sat night. Otherwise, the next time I'll be out there will be later in March. But I'm at the other so cal locations...
