Getting quotes on a conversion of my 572(10.5 : 1) MFI crower engine to a blown motor with a blower shop 1471 unit which I have. I know pistons/rods will need to be changed and my heads redone(openned up). Would like to use my SCAT 4130 crank?.only thinking of 6-7 lbs. (Goal = 1000hp.) Lange...
Those do look nice John! But... Lange says there too small and the restriction will cause much more than a 25hp loss. Besides $5000 is a little steep....I'll just use my old blower headers for now. But Thanks again!
Mr. L is busy....
He's Crew Chiefing on Tommy Thompson's "Shazam" TAF with Scarlotta as driver and Tommy's Pro Mod Hydro. He's building a brand new BAE Hemi for the flattbottom right now. And also chiefing a drag car as well......
I hope to see it tomorrow when I go by to pick up my new...
That's funny! :)
I guess I was wondering if you guys had ever done it? A friend had researched it and did not find any maritime law against it. I like the simplicity and performance of MFI(and less electronics to get wet). Thanks!
Maybe I was not clear enough.....I'm MFI now. Changing my 572 to a 1471 HH retro billet rotor delta blower. Old school. Changing to EFI would be $5k plus. I can throw a "Hat" on for ~$1,200 bucks. Carbs maybe $2k. And so back to my original question again...................."Can you run...
Hey John...how are you doing?
Sistership is good but I have the "need for more speed." She runs great especially above 80(very stable) but with my current NA crower MFI......... 90 is it (remember mine is #3 out of the mould-heavier than yours). So Lange is helping me put together a...
Converting a NA MFI 572 to a blown motor. May transplant the motor into a offshore boat with closed compartment. Can I stay with MFI or do I need to switch to carbs? Don't like EFI(cost).
Who makes these and what do they run? ( including tips......)
Been there...done that! White is the new orange....how have you been? :beer
Oh and thanks guys !
Now back to the topic.....anyone done MFI in a closed compartment?
I know there are alot of "smart engine guys" here....so.....can I? Or will I run into problems with the Coast Guard inspector or boat insurance company if I do this? A spark arrestor on the "HAT" of course, adequate ventilation and fire extinguisher system in place...... Possible or just go...
Beautiful Boat!
Was this boat used up on Lake Arrowhead in the 80's? I remember a 24' that used to cruise the lake and this kinda' reminded me of that boat.....
> than 2 axles = bling thing.....
Remember a guy had one up on Lake Arrowhead in the ...... '70's. Beautiful boat but BIG. Wonder how much HP is needed to push a 24' over 100? :hmm
