Have a 18’ ZR2 w/2.8, been a great little truck. Had a map sensor fail at around 50k. The 2.8 is the most uneventful power plant that I have ever had and the only motor that I left stock. I will be getting a new GMC Canyon ATX4. I think the 2.7 will be great in Colorado/Cayon.
Got both sizes last year Christmas for my grandsons along with extra batteries. They ride them every day these things are great and don’t break. Last year they were 2 and 4 Years old. The perfect starter for dirt bikes. This year I’m getting them 50’s.
I flat tow a 2018, 2.8 diesel, ZR2. 50,000 mile no issues at all and no oil burning. I do like the size of the truck. I haven’t towed with it And wish it had a little more getup and go.

Small issue with a crappy response. If it were me I would pay the $150 and keep your contractor happy. I’m sure you will have bigger issues as you get further in the build. Save your fight for that. Just my opinion.
