Thank you for the kind words. The car is now sitting in the vault at the Peterson Museum, The widow donated after the owner passed. Shame as we did not get to play with it as much as I would have liked too.

RDP is a melting pot of so much talent, it's ridiculous. I've seen bits and pieces of your work over the years but I honestly had no idea that you were a fucking artist. Speechless.

Yes sir. Never even sat in it. He was a weird dude. He made me a deal, I build it, he pays for it, I get to use it for all the promotional I want. Wasn't a bad deal. I was supposed to be able to keep the car till it sold. Widow didn't honor that. But a car we built is now in the Peterson museum. Still a win in a way.

Dang.... wonder if he knew he was at deaths door when contacting you in beginning. Most likely not.... thats an awfully special project to never even experience. But like you said; weird cat.

I saw there were a couple BonesFab decals on it. Did they make it into museum.... that'd be sweet.

He had some health issues but nothing terrible. Went to bed on a Saturday night and didn't wake up in the morning. Two days before that a new 911 GTrs2 Wiesbach carbon edition showed up. Never drove or sat in that either. It went into the back corner of his mancave and sat. The wife didn't find out about it till later. Super nice guy but had some weird idiosyncrocies.

It's a beautiful ride, Jim. I was a little surprised the build cost was mentioned, usually that's kept under wraps. However, that allows people to understand the amount of hours that go into building a one off outer limits custom. I suspect it took around 36 months to build it, from concept to completion.

What a shame the customer didn't get to enjoy it.

If we're going to talk about Galaxies, we have to talk about my great uncle Slick. I apologize to @Loony Toon for hijacking his thread, but I want to share some of his life with you guys.

He was born in 1915, was in the Navy during WWII, moved to Las Vegas in 1957, and went to work at the test site. He also began buying real estate, much of it on or around South Las Vegas Blvd.

In 1978, he bought some acreage and built a house and shop just off Hwy 95, out in the boonies but near where the Santa Fe casino was eventually built. He put a fence around it. The main gate had an arch, and there was a tripod mounted .30 caliber machine gun and some steer skulls on it. He named it the Draggin' Ass Ranch.

Oh yeah, the Galaxies. Slick thought Galaxies were the best car Ford had ever made. I don't remember a time when he didn't own one. By the early 90s, Fonda and I visited him often, and it seemed like every time we came, there was another one in his shop or under a tarp. They all had 390 FEs.

He had a guy who changed the cams, added headers, and did other work on them. The early Galaxies had 14" wheels and tires, and Slick put 16" wheels and tires from a pickup on the rear axles of his. I don't know how dealt with the different PCDs on the car and truck wheels. The car was 5 X 4.5 and the truck was 5 X 5.5. But he made it work. He had the speedometers regeared, and told me the taller tires upped the top end to 140 MPH. Eighty years old, and he bragged it took him less than 40 minutes to make it from Searchlight to the Boulder City split on Hwy 95.

😁

Slick was generous to Fonda and I. Even though we could easily afford it, he insisted on calling and asking us to visit, then paying for the trips.

One year he sent me tickets so I could come to Vegas and watch the Super Bowl with him. I flew in on Saturday afternoon and took the red-eye home on Sunday at 3 AM.

That was the time I took him to the McDonald's near the Santa Fe for lunch, and he asked the 16 year old girl at the counter for a date. I wanted to melt into the floor, but she just laughed and told him he was cute. Then we went to Smith's, and got some party food from the deli.

Slick really liked pinto beans and cornbread, and Fonda was always worried about him because he wasn't eating much as he got older. She would cook up a big pot of ham and pinto beans, bake some cornbread, pack it with some of those blue ice blocks, and send it to Slick via FedEx.

Slick passed away in 1994, and was buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Phoenix. Because of the long term investments in Las Vegas properties, his estate was worth millions.

His son, my cousin, told me there wasn't a will, and asked if I had expectations of a share of the estate. No. I didn't want money. I asked him to give me three things I had admired, a 1943 US Navy diver's knife, a Model T spark box, and a mason jar full of kid's agate stone marbles, known to generations of kids as "aggies".

They're some of my most favorite possessions.
