Yessir where ive worked here for awhile now had a hangar for couple years here to build some boats. I need another spot now to many projects on deck haha.
I put Smart Tabs on mine (I think model SX9510-30). They made a hug difference and it was almost like an automatic down petal since they adjusted with water pressure on the fly. Only way I was able to get on plane with that prop in the picture. I actually bought some small stainless cave plates and a set of stainless compression struts at the same LBS rating as the Smart Tabs. Could be a cheap test for you to swap out the turn buckles for gas struts and test.
I was going to swap out... but then I sold the bitch for a killer deal I could not say no too.
Make sure the tabs have enough room to come up higher than the bottom of your boat. When the water pressure hit these tabs the back end was a good 4" higher than the bottom of the boat. But at no water pressure they where angled 6" down at the back end.
