We want to see the boat!

I remember it from back in the day and it was always one of my favorites.

When his dad gets done with it, it will look like it just came from Lee's shop. Burt knows how to make things showroom!

Oh burt ended up with it? Yes I’m sure it will look better than showroom.

So the boat is here in LHC?

Dad just got the hull back from Conquest. All new gel coat and paint scheme. Sitting on the renovated original trailer. I’m sure he would enjoy showing you where he’s at if you want to give him a call.

I think you have his number, but I’ll send it to you privately.

Here is an update for those interested.

The photos are not great quality with fluorescent lighting. Gelcoat on the exterior is white with orange and grey trim that matches original scheme. As you can see interior gelcoat is different than original.

Trailer was very solid so it was renovated and stainless fenders were added. The wheels are original. We had them sandblasted and edges polished. Old school!

V Drive was set with original hardware, but was 3/16th off line and a tad upright. Adjustments have been made locked in.

Awesome gas tanks!

Will try to close timing on photo intervals.

I'm not sure the old owner will care...I'm pretty sure he died
I’m sorry if Stevo died. I said it because I tried to buy it right before for the asking price with another guy and they wouldn’t sell it to us cause we were going to separate the motor from the hull. So it’s a bit ironic seeing it at this stage.

Yes the boat will not be the same. Never was the plan to purchase it not make changes.

Most the original original hardware, plus steering, v drive, tanks, plates, turbo 400 are being cleaned up and utilized. Engine is being freshened up and new turbos will replace old ones.

It had nothing to do with whatever you wanted to do with the boat, you did not want to pay the asking price. I was simply trying to help the family out.

Actually Barry...I was approached by someone else to go in on it with them. He gets the motor, I get the hull...for the asking price. They wouldn’t sell him the boat after he told them his plan was to separate the motor. This was a separate deal from when I offered to buy the boat.

Sure is looking great!

I don't think I've ever seen steering like that in boat. A sprint car or hit yes, but never a boat.

Does it work good?

I wish I could tell you!

Neither my dad nor I have ever driven a boat with it. It was the steering that this classic had.

I bet someone else can give us both a good review.

Looks bitchen. nice work. the only thing that would worry me is that the bolts aren't sandwiched with material one both ends and the pushing/pulling force in the middle. Putting the force on the end of the bolts could cause for faster ware, losening of the fasteners, breakage, etc. May be something to consider...especially with stainless fasteners. I'd ask @Racey his thoughts. especially in a boat thats going to be pushing some good MPH. My 2 cents. Safety First

Thanks for the feedback, but what bolts are you referring to? Stringer mounts? Much appreciated.

We will ask Racey Jr and Racey Sr.

Beautiful work! This boat is really coming together nicely! Seeing this level of craftsmanship and the effort spent restoring the original parts makes me seriously reconsider the direction I'm going with my 19! LMAO!!! Looking great, thank you for the motivation!!!

Seems the water jackets were opened up in the v drive housing to make way for larger gears.

Installing an oil cooler and electric pump to get the job done.

My Casale was hogged out and they ran a copper line internally (from what I was told) to keep temps down using existing ports. Case stays cool.

We were thoroughly disappointed to not make the Schiada Regatta at Bluewater. Our shakedown runs the day before revealed a water leak we could not trace down at that time.

Came to be the culprit was the prop shaft strut. Once we pulled the motor and trans, then put the boat back in the water we found it. We had not re installed it, believing it to be water tight and as the set up was spot on we thought not to mess with it. Wrong decision. You know what they say happens when you “assume” something. Makes an a$$ out of me.

Good news is this little toy is now water worthy and we look forward to enjoying it on the lake and river next summer. Runs pretty damn strong.

congrats on getting that sucker wet again! glad to hear its running well, and youre happy with it. Hope to check it out in person sometime soon. Last time I saw it, it was on Steves side yard and we were chatting about it and his plans for it. Love seeing projects live on, even though we may not always do the same.

They look like 1976-77 vintage American 10 spokes. Not sure if that's the official name, but you can see a pic of them on the cover of the '76 and '77 American wheel catalog at this website:

http://vintagewheelcatalogs.com/ar/

Email the guy and he will look it up in the catalog and scan the page for you if you're interested. The guy has an amazing collection of vintage wheel catalogs.

Jmeads I don’t know the make. They were on the trailer and we had them sand blasted and the rims polished. I did not look for a brand name.

lenmann’s suggestion looks dead on, except our wheels are a 6 bolt lug pattern, not the 5 bolt pattern of those Americans on the catalogs.

Is this the one you were telling me about the other day? Jezzzz, what a beautiful boat.
No, the engine I am currently finishing up will go in a different 19' Schiada that is also getting completely restored. I will shoot some photos when I get it completed here, but customer wants to change plumbing on his own, incorporating some hardline.

The one in this thread I merely helped sell for Steve Peterson's family. They have done a beautiful job on this boat.
