So I've been rebuilding a 1965 glasspar avalon for a customer, the first one of these I did was for my brother in law which was a 1960 glasspar citation IMG_8861.jpg
So from doing that boat I got the referral to do this boat

Pretty rough but all there.

So I tore the boat down and removed the cable and pulley steering and stripped the boat down to bare hull.

From there I had to flip the boat over and repair the crack in the bottom of the hull and repair the transom

Enough of the transom on to the keel

So after all of the repairs on the glass it was time for paint

Also had to build a new to him trailer ( the original trailer was a death trap).

The original trailer and the new trailer
Now it was time to fabricate the interior and mount the 2001 Suzuki 4 stroke fuel injected engine I picked up used for the boat.

Now it was time for paint and final assembly.

My buddy Jeff helped me every step of the way, Thank you Jeff.

The seats were purchased from overtons while the side panels I made and upholstered my self.

I painted the 2001 Suzuki black and had 1965 Mercury decals made for a 50 hp engine which is what the Suzuki engine is, I think it makes it look a little more period correct.

Jay at OC boat windows made the new windshield and he hit it out of the park with it the windshield is perfect and bolted right on with no issues.

Had gatorstep make the teek flooring and it came out perfect ,all and all I think it turned out pretty cool and the customer is in love with it.

That little boat came out great and you make it look easy.

What do you think the total investment is as she sits now?

Nice job! That would be cool to cruise Newport Beach Bay or the channel at the river.

Hi there! I stumbled across this forum because the bad ass 65 Avalon you did cane through the Google search. I just picked up a 64 Avalon, my first boat ever. Planning on resto modding it as well. Just got it running and taking her out on Elsinore tomorrow lunchtime, for a few hot laps. I would love to pick your brain for some advice. Please let me know if that’s ok with you. Thanks, Boris. 408-479-0753.

Was just gifted one by my neighbor. It's missing The back housing that covers The fuel tank And batteries, did you custom build the splash cover and the little wall and behind the seats ?

No that's all the original top fiberglass, I did make the wall that upholstered with the door to access the fuel tank and battery .
