1973 Stevens/Diversified

Hello all. I recently acquired what I have been told is an old Stevens flat bottom v-drive and I am looking to find more information on it. I have seen on this forum, and a few others that there are a few people with some knowledge that might be able to help out.

The person who gave (yes, gave...) me the boat personally purchased the bare hull from a company called Diversified Fiberglass (or similar??) in 1973 (approx) and built the boat up from there with an early 5 bolt 289 ford engine, which has since been replaced with another rebuilt 5 bolt 289... According to him, when Stevens went out of business they sold the molds to Diversified who continued to produce the hulls, but I have little information than that... The number stamped into the transom is DFG025320173.

I have attached some pictures if it might be helpful. Any information or guidance you all could provide would be helpful.

looks like a 1964 65 stevens to me............

my 68 stevens was a newer looking hull.......same with my 72

I COPIED YOUR THREAD AND MADE IT ITS OWN ON PERF BOATS IN THE V-DRIVE SECTION.....

The plate set up looks to be early to mid 60's . The hull for sure looks to be a Stevens . Nice looking sled enjoy :thumbup:

I did a run of you HIN and this is what came up. Needless to say the boats production date and the manufacturer in business dates do not seem to line up. Not sure what that means but I figured I would send this to you as a starting point. Hopefully it helps. Sorry it came out sideways not very good at posting pics.

Actually after looking at this report I realized it states that Diversified went out of business on 8/79

Thanks Dennis! That actually helpful. A quick search of Diversified in Gardena CA (which is right up the road from me) shows their address was 1031 El Segundo Blvd - Right next to 1051 El Segundo Blvd which was the address of Stevens...so all that seems to add up...perhaps when Stevens went out, the molds went next door? I'm hoping Spike Morelli can step in on one of the other forums and give me a little more history, but thanks for the search and info!
