The tach was bouncing around on me last time I had the boat out. Its a faria guage and it is set on the 6 cyl mode. I am assuming a loose connector somewhere but where does it pick up the signal?

Mine was doing the same thing when the temp sensor wire was grounding out against the sensor.

So is there a difference between a 4 stroke and 2 stroke tach? I realized the selector on the back said something different than I thought. I selected 6 for v-6. What is the tach sensing to give you a reading?
