Well on my Howard the original strut was 10 deg and the back of the barrel was 17" from the transom. This worked fine until I put the blown 548 in and got the speed into the 90's. At that point the boat got squirrely and begin to bow steer and was a handful. After throwing a prop blade and nearly jerking the strut off the bottom, I consulted with Phil Bergeron and he advised me to go to a 7.5 deg strut and move if forward so the rear of the barrel was 24" from the transom. I had him make the strut and I mounted it and remounted the V drive and the boat handled so much better it was incredible. It stopped chine walking, carried the bow and I was able to get it to 109 mph with the same engine. I'm not sure the same dimensions would work on your Hallet, but it would be worth the effort to talk to Phil.No we didn’t???? What do ##s we lookin for??????
