1997 Malibu sunsetter lx.

What’s the going rate on these things?
Been looking for a fun family boat and a buddy of mine offered up his malibu. Said to make reasonable offer and he’ll take it. I don’t want to insult him with a stupid offer.

I don’t have many details other than:

Original owner
320 monsoon engine
Perfect pass
425 hours
Clean interior
Well maintained

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks

I would say if it's fuel injected - 13k-16k, obviously without pictures or an accessory list it's hard to say.

I think a fair price is 15 k

Here is mine
I wish I could get 13 for my 93 sun-setter just for comparison
Not fuel injected 675 hrs

Thanks for the replies. I am working on some pictures (boat in storage) and I will post back up.

Another question: how would this boat do on Havasu?

Fine during the week, as long as a big storm doesn't blow through. Weekends would be rough, but doable if you know what you're doing. It's pretty easy to take water over the bow.

Sold my 95 Sanger direct drive for $18000.00 Two summers ago. Had a new Sanger OEM interior, crate Scorpion with 260 hours, perfect pass, multi amp stereo, strapless Bimini, updated gel coat graphics and trailer. Sucked balls at havasu. Matter of fact I broke the OEM pro flight tower crossing the lake but needed to get to the channel to get fuel and couldn't turn around with waves breaking over the bow. The Sanger handles rough water much better than the Malibu. Seems like every time the wife and I went out we pushed it to its limits (Delta weekends would include at least one day with 120 plus miles traveled per gps),I love direct drives for reliability and water sports but as far as big water goes not a good choice IMO.
