Nice to see young folks trying to make something work & enjoying time on the water. Not sitting inside jacking around on their phone or computer all day
Very cool! Even wearing safety gear, LOL! I agree with @lake p.a.l. It's nice to see young men experimenting, learning, and trying stuff just for the heck of it rather than sitting on their phones all day. Although the irony in that statement is that the video was probably shot on a phone, I guess
I always wanted to build another 15 Whaler just for boating, not fishing.
Several years back, I followed a guy named Mick back east build a 15 Whaler to sort of max it out, within reason.
He had access to a legit boatyard & knew his shit.
He splashed a pad off a bass boat and glassed it into a 15 hull, and extended the strakes all the way aft.
He did a bunch of other mods, like below deck fuel tank, sapile rub rail, black gel coat, etc.
He built a Yamaha 130 2-stroke for it w/ high comp heads, pistons, reeds etc.
Last I heard he was ticking 70 mph with it and was still prop testing feeling it had more in it.
Then I heard he was being shipped out (military) and sold the boat / motor separately for liability concerns.
It was pretty cool though.
