Buddy of mine has a 2005 Dodge 2500 5.9 Diesel 2wd long bed extra cab with 107k miles.

He asked me what it’s worth.

Any ideas?

A few more details trim and overall condition would help!
Maybe low 20s.

Sold my 06 Laramie 4wd megacab for 13K. Had 263K on the odometer and a bad turbo.

2wd kills it. You want crewcab and 4x4 to get the money. I am going to guess 10k

9-10k. Had my 4x4 lifted same year up for 12k and had a bunch of lowballers ended up keeping it.

I traded my 07 megacav 5.9 4x4 into a dealer for 20k last year. 125k miles. They resold it for 28k

Still a strong market for those trucks, and some of the old timers pulling RVs and such prefer the 2wd. If it’s clean, it’s still pretty valuable with that low of mileage. Mid to high teens with an auto, high teens to Low 20’s with a 6 speed. Assuming he’s not in a rush to sell and willing to put it on Multiple sites/forums.

7k low to 12k depending on options

This. if it was a 4wd you might get closer to 17k. The problem is lack of a full size crew cab those years. 4wd megacabs pull the money but even then alot of people don't like being limited to a short bed to get a crew cab.
