The fun begins! My Rouse 19' was just popped out of the mold a week ago. I wanted to do a graphic scheme on this boat that was a little different than what everyone else has been doing and we are all really happy with the end result. I even threw some graphics up underneath the boat for those hard launches. To change it up a little more we went with Mahogany stringers and a gel coated transom/bilge. Plans for the boat include a 489ci Blown BBC with a rear driven blower package from Mooneyham Blowers, set back pump, fiberglass interior, and a custom trailer from ROKE Custom Fabrication (which is the company that Jason (River Dad) and myself just started building custom trailers). The boat is being put together as a demo boat for Rouse Custom Boats and will be available for sale throughout the build. Rigging will begin soon!

We changed the shape of the cutouts in the front bulkhead to follow the contour of the boat a little more and added windows to the side bulkheads for a little different look and they turned out extremely nice. Finally got the boat all polished out... Don't mind the trailer, it's all we had laying around to go pick up the boat haha.

The boat looks fantastic!! Why mohagany stringers? Just to get a darker wood appearance? Are they as stiff as douglas fir?

Thanks RD. Yeah... the decision was mainly for the color, but after some research we found out that they are just as strong and actually a little lighter than the douglas fir. Once we polished them out, the grain pattern really pops.

This custom trailer company. Is that going to be a side biz? or is that your new main gig?

You are going to need liability insurance, amongst a bunch of other stuff. Goto the insurance section up in advertisers. My wife can get you a good rate on insurance. Trailers being trailers though, that's something you really don't want to skimp on.

It is going to be a side biz. I live next door to an insurance guy. We definitely didn't skimp and got everything covered. Thanks for the heads up. We are going to be starting a custom one to go under this boat soon!

Thanks! Yeah, Joel sprayed it and did a great job. The quality of the pin lines and fades are so impressive. Pictures don't do it justice.

Did you get setup with the DMV as a mfg? Or are you going to register them as home builts?

Set up with DMV as a manufacturer

Very cool! If you didn't I was going to refer you to a friend of mine that would put Vin's on your trailers for you under his label etc.. Makes them much easier to insure etc.

I look forward to seeing what you guys build!

So you can't buy a new hull and put your own engine in it? Say I have a motor sitting in my Kachina and built a new hull. I cant put that motor from my Kachina in that new hull?

What about if I had an engine built for it. I couldn't use that engine???

Jason sold the boat to me and I am rigging it. It is my understanding that the law reads that the motor only has to be smog approved if it is a new motor (based on the year of the block) and if it is under 500hp. Both of these do not apply to the motor that will be going in the boat.

the other thing I had to do before I could offer them for sale was title them in my name and pay the tax's,,,bob demanded that

if you are the one that has them for sale, and they aren't still on the mso
you can put what ever you want in it...thats what they told me...

The boat was delivered to B1 Racing in Costa Mesa to have Chris set the intake. His work was spot on and the entire install turned out very sano. I then loaded up the boat and took it out to Jet Boat Plus in Havasu to do the final rigging. We began the process by fabricating some bare rails and getting the proper angle set for the motor with the rear driven blower. The gauge holes were also centered and drilled.

Final fabrication on the rail kit and TA plates was done by Matt at Jet Boat Plus. The final product came out really well and flows nicely with the overall concept of the boat. All of the hardware is stainless and countersunk for a polished look. The gauge holes were filled with Auto Meter Platinum gauges (tach, mechanical oil pressure, and boost) and the boat will run water temp and fuel pressure on the motor.

The front motor mounts were finished, sanded down, and polished for a nice contrast on the black rail kit. Once those were done, the motor was dropped in. The motor in the boat is a Randy Letcher built 488 ci BBC that consists of a Scat 4.25" forged crank, Scat forged H beam rods, JE flat top forged blower pistons, Pro Comp aluminum heads with upgraded stainless valves, heavy duty springs, Scorpian roller rockers, Herbert stud girdles, and a Ruben Racing Cams solid roller cam shaft. The entire motor was balanced and blueprinted and will also feature a Mooneyham competition intake manifold, Mooneyham 8-71 rear driven blower kit, a custom set of All-State Carburetors built 750's, full ARP bolt kit, Paul Pfaff fabricated valve covers, an Edelbrock mechanical fuel pump, Magna Fuel 4 port regulator, and an MSD ready to run ignition system. We threw an old blower case on top of the motor to mock up height so we can begin to construct our lines. Along with the motor going in a few other minor details were buttoned up including the mounting of the aircraft style gas caps and the steering column.

We fabbed up a battery box/hydraulic box to sit underneath the back seat and get everything out of sight when looking at the back of the boat. The piece is stout and does not allow the battery or hydraulic box to move or bounce at all. The battery is a low pro Deka that can be mounted on its side to give us the clearance for the back seat. Roger Finney at Finney's Powder Coating has really been taking care of us. All of our pieces are turning out great and the turn around has been extremely quick. We got some more hardware back including the shifter, foot pedal, battery box, pump, and TA plates. The pump was put together by Randy at Jet Boat Plus and is a Berkeley setup. It features a tuned suck housing, bowl, and detailed mag bronze A. All of the hardware and pump have been put in the boat and the boat is currently being wired Chris Irick. Here are a few pics.

I saw the boat at Jet Boats Plus in LHC last week... it is a beauty. Matt at JBP does really nice work. He replaced the tanks in my Spectra 18, shined the gel coat, carpet & got me hooked up with a great upholstry shop.... Main Stitch in LHC. Good people here, just have to find them.

Got some more work done on the boat last weekend. Rick and Monty at Mooneyham came through with the blower which features billet endplates made especially for the rear driven application with the logos facing the right way. The motor is now completely together and am now just waiting on a distributor and headers to make it complete. The plumbing was started with black braided hose and nickel plated fittings and compliments the boat well. Should have some more updates in a week or so.

After looking at the pics again i have to ask if this will be a race boat or pleasure? Those zoomies might get you an excessive noise ticket depending on where you boat. Maybe you could get 8 supertrapps?:D

Thanks for the compliments guys.... The zoomies are just for mock up purposes. The boat is going to run a set of black thermal coated twisties. Should be here soon.
