Double damn... Great pics Jay. That one of the OL upside down with the water reflection on the sponsors, is almost surreal, peaceful and un-life like, like someone took a toy boat and held it there. So glad they driver/co-driver are ok.

I have more of the sequence, mostly of the lift prior to going airborn.
This is the last one in the air, as the boat disappeared behind the trees from my vantage point.
The most riveting thing about this one is the spectators, and you can see it in the large version.

In all the hundreds of Shootout frames I've shot over the years where the spectator fleet is visible,
people are doing all the things that people do on boats.
Talking, laughing, drinking, swimming... looking/facing everywhere, in all directions.
Maybe 15% are actually watching the run at that moment.

The spectacle has now been unfolding for several seconds and every eye in the frame is glued to the boat...
it's downright spooky- people standing with arms by their sides in disbelief, women with their hands to their faces... just crazy.
The emotion in the scene gets me.

Oh man! So sad to hear. It sounded like the bleed was not a major concern. Horrible news.

This guy must really like Batman

I saw an episode of a show called American Greed on CNBC last night. There was a company formed, called US Fidellis and one of the brothers of that company built that boat. He actually was a batman fanatic. They said he wanted to build a bat cave in his mansion. Blowing 101 million dollars in a span of a few years.

Needless to say, both brothers are still in jail for scamming for "car warranty services"

It's such a funny thing about timing. Sometimes you don't realize what's happened until much later.
Friday morning I decided to scoot over to Captain Ron's ahead of the mob. I hate walking those docks on Saturday or Sunday-
always nervous with camera gear and mostly lubricated crowds on narrow docks.

Wasn't much happening anywhere that time of the day so I walked out to the end of the docks and got a few shots of some of the boats in the slips.
There were only a few boats on the water- time stamp shows 11:30 am on this one.
As I was standing there, Mike and Joel pulled up right in front of me, did a slow turn and headed back out on the lake.
