Awesome Pic's, thanks for sharing.

Let me share a little story about this event.

We used to go to this every year. It "WAS" an awesome event. We had motor home spots on the beach in the park. :cool The first few years the circle boats and the drag boats raced right by the beach we were at. We could set on the beach drink beer and watch them race. The kids would be playing in front of us. After a few years the L.E's would come by and ask us to keep the kids out of the water during the race, (no problem probably a good idea anyway). Then the City of San Diego decided it was unsafe and had the promoter put up a 4ft fence between us and the beach (Bummer). Still it was unbelievable to be that close to the action, so we renewed our RV spots. Then one year we here rumors that the the City (In all there wisdom) decided to pass a"No Drinking on Public Beaches Ordinance". The promoter hoped to get a "Variance" during the event so we renew our spots. The day we arrive (8 rigs strong), we are standing outside our rigs B.S.'ing and having a cold one and up comes an Officer. He says "You know you guys cannot drink in the park and or on the beach, right"??? Of course we say "No". He proceeds to tell us the promoter was unable to get a permit for the event to allow drinking. He went on to say that we could pour them into red cups but don't get caught because they would give us a fine (I forget how much)....

Needless to say that was the last time we went (I think it was 2008/9). It still amazes me how much Government can screw up such a great thing! :( I still miss going to this event. But the fact of not being able to relax and enjoy a few adult beverages in our camp is ridiculous.

I hope the event stays strong, but unfortunately non of my time or monies will be spend there!(

I agree Alan, although there truly was some awesome racing this year I enjoyed this event most when the drag boats (were there) and the circle boats were a much bigger part of the program. Fan turn-out was much higher then because of those boats which, in my opinion, have a broader appeal and are a bigger draw, are alot more interesting and way more fun to watch than the hydro's.
