2016 Duramax Needs Smog Check (CA)???

2016 Chevy Duramax bought used in 2017. Renewed registration in 2018 and no smog test needed. Go to register it today and need to get a smog test... does this sound right??? I know California has a bunch of BS laws when it comes to this stuff but...

Yep, I have a 2016 Duramax 3500 and I have to get one too.

Every other year you will need a smog check.

Mike they hit us for a smog test 6 months after we bought ours new, 2015 Dmax and I get hit every year.
I get the test and it's just a visual, if even that,, and always pass.
It's about $75 each time with a coupon.

Evidently the VW shenanigan triggered all this. That's second hand takes.

Gotcha. That sucks. But it is what it is I guess. Is there a special shop that does diesels, or does every smog shop do diesel?

Most smog places do the d, But best to call en check first. Its pretty lame as said they just give it a visual check.

Up to every other year. I got a smog test required for my truck for 3 years straight before. It's all a bunch of BS.

Your registration notice will show “smog only station” or regular station. “Smog only stations” don’t fix it, they just test it. Go to one of those, cheap and fast.

Yep if there is no smog shop within a certain distance.
