Aug 4 2018 damn dam run. We’ll be gathering outside the no wake at kathrines landing. Horn will sound at 10am and we will be headed to cotton wood to pick up the rest of the group, around 11 give or take. After that it’s off to willow. This will be at whatever pace you want ranging anywhere from around 30mph-160mph. Stop whenever you feel like or whenever you see a group of boats hanging out. We usually group up again in the no wake at willow then head for the dam. Float around for a while and head back when you’re ready. Probably beach at the big sandy beach directly across from cotton wood. Hang out, have lunch , meet some inmates. This is an unorganized event and as usual every thing is set in quick sand.

I’m in. How many miles are we talking round trip? And where do I tow to to launch?

I want to say it's like 50 miles up? It's not as far as people make it out to be.. (Especially after having just gone to Powell! LOL) A lot of people head up Friday Night and stay at the Hotel at Katherine's Landing, then either get a slip (friday) or Launch Saturday AM. In the past I have towed up in the AM and Stayed at the hotel the night before.

Staying at the Hotel Saturday night is a lot of fun, especially if you get a group to go to Laughlin for drinks (it's literally right around the corner).

I will be going with the wife! I think it’s more like 75 miles one way. For me it was 60 gallons of gas. I towed from havasu sat morning and stayed in Laughlin sat night. I think I’ll do the same this year too.

28eliminator knows the exact mileage from his gps. I want to say like 112 or something close to there. I’m going to talk to some people about shirts and hopefully I can pull it off. Design ideas are encouraged.

Tentative that we will be launching from Cottonwood. No basin for me.

I did it last year and kept asking myself why did I launch from Katherine’s.

I'm in (+ 3.5). We were already planning Havasu for that weekend so easy. Does anyone know if any of the Laughlin Casino hotels are better for kids (12&13)?

Ours always enjoyed the arcade at Harrahs.

Towing to Cottonwood will add another 45 minutes on the road. The ramp at Cottonwood is simple in and out. Never sat in a line there. For me, I’d rather sit in my truck with the air on in lieu of possibly beating the hell out of the boat in the basin if the wind picks up.
I think we we’re back to Cottonwood by 3ish last year

Here is the launch ramp at Katherine’s about 5:00 pm last year! It took over half hour to get my boat out of the water

We did this trip last Tuesday. Left Katherine's at 9 am and were at Willow Beach in an hour (cruised at 50 mph) and burned just under a half of tank. From Willow Beach to the dam it is another 11 miles each way. That was the longest part of our trip because we enjoyed the scenery. Took about 2 hours to enjoy the wildlife and dodge kayakers and Scouts in their canoes. We refueled at Willow Beach and headed back to Katherine's.

We stayed at the Aquarius ($45 a night) with kids and made sure to get a room in the California Tower. Having stayed there multiple times that tower is much better. Apparently it is the adult tower, but there were plenty of kids going up and down the elevators.

Can't wait to do this trip again, but we too will probably just go out of Cottonwood. The kid was getting restless on the way back to Katherine's.

We’ve got a house in Bullhead. Personally i think Laughlin is more attractive as you’ll get back in time to have a decent dinner and a bit of night life

Lets have a meet up with those towing from Havasu Saturday morning. Sounds like Cottonwood is the ticket and worth the longer drive.

This is from the run in 2011. From Katherine’s to the Dam and back to Katherine’s. 63.5 miles each way.

I would but with my 7 month pregnant wife if the wind kicks up my 23 ft boat won’t cut it for her. We did it last year

This sounds like a great time. As a kid I made that trip form Cottonwood to Willow with my family a bunch in the late 70's to about 1990. From all the pics it looks like you have had some great conditions. I remember it being pretty rough a few times, even well north of the basin.

We stayed a Kathrines two weeks ago. The rooms are 1960 river motel style but were clean. The restaurant is closed for remodeling but the small diner (Four booths and some bar stools) was open from 8am-8pm and served a decent menu. That being said..... we will likely stay in Laughlin this time.

That's what we did one year. We met at the Chevron by Walmart off the 95. Grabbed a couple Egg McMuffins, gassed up and rolled out.

If you are towing to Cottonwood there is a Chevron in Searchlight so no need to tow full from Havasu.

Towing to cotton wood it’s anlong hill climb. We like to do the full run from dam to dam. But people aren’t kidding when they say retrieving is a nightmare. I’m actually going to try and slip the boat and come back at night to float

It’s easy getting back though and the grade isn’t bad at all. [emoji106]
