going through the auto trader and there are a ton of Classic 2019 1500 diesels at really good prices. What's the deal? Crap motor? It's a RAM lol?

Underpowered from what I have read. Most of the half-ton diesels are. I think the Ford is leading the class in form/function.

$50+k msrp for +-$35k. Underpowered to tow 11000? Or to get out of its own way?

Old body style, The diesel is not the most powerful nor does it have the highest tow rating. On the RAM website they are saying like $10K off MSRP for the Classics. So with the extra incentives, what you are seeing makes sense.

I can't think of a good reason to buy a 1/2 ton diesel truck. Maybe if the price was the same as the gasser it might make sense. You'll never get the extra money up front back out of it in fuel savings unless you drive it 150K miles or more.

Crap, walked away from mine and took it in the financial ass hard, stranded me numerous times and after 36,000 miles I was on my own with no warranty. Too bad, it was a great truck, 26 mph at 80 mph to havasu. It was in the shop for months and I gave up and got a real diesel, Cummins.

I had an agreement to buy a 1500 luckily it didn’t work out and I ended up with the same truck but 2500 versio really glad it worked out how it did. The 1500 I was gonna buy had a 6 inch lift and 37 inch tires and I have a feeling would have been an issue without regearing it.
