Hoping I can get some help here. This hull and set up theories are new to me.

Boat is new to me, someone on here may have previously owned it. I know it wa s in Havasu/river for a while.

Powered by 98 250efi. Has hydraulic jack plate and steering. I know previous owner and am confident the motor is good. I did notice the fuel pressure regulator has a vacuum line that is not connected and the regulator housing has been held together with safety wire for many moons. (we did it as a on water repair about 8 years ago)

It's heavy and although listed as a 21, it is closer to a 22 Daytona dims and about as heavy. Solid boat, not a thin layup. I'm working on the cosmetics so let's not focus there.

It's running a three blade 23p and will blow out when trying to plane regardless of trim of motor height. RPM tops about 5400 and it breaks water at the dash. It is a stepped hull so if I can get it into the air it should help. It has manual adjustable tabs, what angle should these be relative to the keel?

Looking for ideas or suggestions on the set up and prop suggestions.

Thanks,

What is the prop you are spinning? Blowing out? Or cavitating? Cavitating when getting on plane is not uncommon at all and almost necessary to spin the larger wheels. As long as the boat is still moving forward and it doesn't sit in the hole for more than 10 seconds, you're fine.

The cav plates should be set a few degrees above the top of the tunnel just to help make sure they don't interfere at speed.

I'd highly recommend either getting a sportsmaster lower unit or putting a nose cone with low water pickup on that lower. You could possibly run a larger set back to carry the nose better as well.
