Who else has one? I see quite a few out here on Lake Mead. I fell in love with this hull. Picked up this one to restore. Did a little clean up this weekend. I need a windshield and window trim. Anyone got a lead or someone/ company who can do reproduce the windshield?

By chance did it have the name Eva in small black letters on the transom? Looks like an old friends boat that I haven’t seen in over 30 years.

Not that I seen. It got Havasu boat sales stickers on it . Where was the "Eva" at on the transom? I would love to know some history. It not in bad shape the interior need a full rehab. And the plastic around the window have deteriorating with age.

Always wanted one of those. Nice find. Nordic does all their windshields in house and could probably help out. If not I know there's another place in Havasu but cant remember the name off-hand.

Now that I think about it it was probably long removed by previous owners, I think he traded this boat for a 27 Nordic I want to say around 1989, I don’t think they were very many 27’s made, it was when they were shifting over to euro styling. Not sure what it has now, but originally I believe it was a 330 HP 7.4 originally.

I was looking for a 26' Viking, but I like the looks of the 23 better. Had to take it out today.

It is a 1986 with a Volvo Penta AQ290 with a 350. I just started building a stroke for it 385 with aluminum heads. Nothing to over the top few more hp's and tq numbers. It ran out pretty good today 50 with a pretty beat up prop.

This Viking does not have the windscreen, it is just a piece of curved plastic. Those side windows always crack. This is a heavy boat and 50 is about right, it needs ore torque to get out of the water, shot for torque when you build. Put 6 people in this all seated and you will know what I mean.

We had 3 of us in it when we ran it out, it pop out of the water pretty nicely. All in all I was a bit surprised. The new build should Dyno out 400hp/450tq. We are using eagle rotating assembly with flat top piston. so 10.4:1 with the aluminum heads and .040 gasket.

Yes on the windshield. But it leans forward so the bottom has to be in an arc when flat. I was hoping to find one rather than have to make one. The side and front windows are good it the damn plastic trim. My school I teach at has a machine shop class with cnc's . The instructor said he could reproduce them in aluminum. So may go that route

Would you be willing to send me a build sheet on your motor? I am doing the exact same thing on an 87 AQ290 and I would love to cheat off your build sheet/parts list.

How do you think your build would hold up to 6 lbs of boost if you decided to put a blower on it at some point in the future?

I can definitely wait. I put a new top end on the original short block about 2 years ago. 64cc edlebrock estreet aluminum heads, edlebrock intake and 650 carb. The new cam profile was very similar to the original cam profile as a RV type. That new work exposed all the weakness in the lower and its burning oil and blowing oil out the rear seal.

Time to build the lower, so any help would be appreciated because I am an amateur. I am assuming you are ending up with a 383 stroker?... I will hit you up in Jan for the information on your build!... thanks for the response.

I want quote you in the last post and forgot.
It will actually be a 385 since I'm on .040 over bore. I post up some video and pictures as we build. with this rotating assembly I'll have to relieve the sides of the block but will not have to relieve at the top by the cam and cylinders.

I am still thinking on that. SBC headers seem to be limited. I have been looking to see if there any EMI's out there. I may do through hull

Through hull will help I picked up 4 mph on a sbc, but only 18’ boat.

I want to do thru hulls on my 454 but I have read that once you doit you try and do everything to try and quiet it down.

This actually the first boat I have owned without through hull exhaust. I do like the idle time where you can talk to each other. Been also keeping an eye out for captains calls switchable.

This motor I am building it one I have had. Plan is the freshen up the stock Volvo Penta 350 and pickle it as a back up

I had an 84 bahner with the AQ290 drive mild supercharged 350. It ran mid 60's and fantastic holeshot and midrange.
That is a big strong drive usually found on 20'-30' heavy cruisers. Talked to Volvo they said with a lighter boat put whatever you want to power it.
Side note hill propellers makes a great all around prop for that drive "elephant ear"

I used "stainless marine". Biggest advantage was saving about 50lbs over the heavy stock Volvo.

If those are the pistons and cylinder heads you actually purchased, you’re going to have roughly 12:1 CR. Did you or an engine builder friend do the math on this?

Umm the calculator I used and the tech I talk to at eagle also calculated 10.5. how did you come up with 12?

I think I see the issue. I didn't order this from summit. And they list the Pistons at a +5 cc there a -5 for the valve relief. At a +5 it's 11.8xxx with the -5 10.4xxx.

Are the heads 64cc like what you’ve listed or 72cc?

This is also assuming zero deck (decking the block so the piston crown is flush with the deck), so you’ll be a tick less than this, but that’s up there for compression with that short of a cam.

I just calculated with piston 0.025” below deck puts you at exactly 10.5:1. I’d advise not decking the block any more than you have to or unshroud the valves in the chambers to gain a little flow and cc’s.

The we did not decking the block. I thought I mentioned that earlier but may not have.

The cam I am still iffy on. My choice is because I am a Little concerned with reversion on the stock exhaust manifolds. I think it will be ok. But will see.

Ok back at the school. So we cc the heads to verify and grab the cam card. Intake close is 62 deg. Giving a DCR of 8.6:1. Also verify the the block has not been decked so we are still .025 in the hole. I was checking the heads and I think I want to un-shrowd the valves a bit. I thinking I will take out 7-10 cc of material that will bring my static at 9.5X ish:1. I am going to stick with cam as it think it will work well as I don't plan to wind it up over 5k. This will probably leave VE at 80-90% keeping my Dynamic compression in a safe level for pump gas.

Give Jay a call I had him make my new windshield on my Essexs, came out perfect he also did my buddies old sleek craft and it was perfect. Even if they are broken you can ship him the piece and he can make a new one off of it.

Yea that's the problem. I have nothing. It was broken or just removed.
