Ponce de Leon enslaved Natives in Puerto Rico as early as 1508 and after killing them started bring African slaves to the Americas as early as 1513.

1865-1508= 357 so I was off by a couple decades. You got me!

America has nothing to do with any early explorations or slavery before 1776, the year the USA was formed.

You are incorrect by a few centurys.

Every post you write, you show your desperation more.

That's not even mentioning the fact that it's been abolished in the USA for over 100 years (1865).

No one alive today had anything to do with slavery. Period.

No "reparations" are due to anyone. Your SJW opinion is idiocy.

The point is not to blame anyone alive for slavery. The point is to recognize that we should now stop honoring people who are only famous for fighting to defend slavery.
This just proves you are not part of the 1%, and therefore your opinion here is irrelevant.

When did ponce gain his American citizenship ? Who captured and sold said slaves ?
Was it an abomination, yes it was. Does any person alive today in the US have any culpability? Please explain how.

1508...for reference, that’s right about when Davinchi was finishing the second Mona Lisa.

Vlad Dracul had been dead about 30 years.

Suffice it to say it was before my time...although my ancestors were still being fucked over be the English in spite of William Wallace’s fight 200 years earlier.
Gmac (the amalgamation) assumes a lot about others lineage, and incorrectly so.

I don’t believe I’ve ever advocated for reparations. I’m saying stop honoring men who fought for evil.

Do you actually know when the majority of the statues to Confederate generals were erected and bases named? It began about 30 years after the end of the Civil War and continued up to about 1940. During this time Jim Crow laws were being enacted, and the first generation of African Americans born outside of slavery were deemed a threat to white people and their way of life. They were put up by the same folks running around the countryside in Klan robes trying to terrorize blacks who were finally starting to realize they were no longer property. Those statues are a disgrace, as are military bases named after traitors and flesh peddlers.

So 150 years ago they were fine with it, and today you are whining like a little baby whose teeth are coming in.... My point still stands. Go cry to mommy. 😋

I don’t think they were ever “fine” with it, they just got lynched for saying so and the statues erected in the town squares and rebel flags were just meant as an ever present reminder of what happens to uppity blacks.

Well i guess for you it's a shame nobody here gives a damn what you 'think' 🤣.

Apparently not too many people back then gave a shit about the naming or statues either, it only took a century and a half and a high soy diet for anyone to care. 😋

No? What political party do you suppose most if not all of those antebellum Confederate generals belonged to? Let’s see, they broke from the Union when Republican Abe Lincoln got elected and the Whigs were gone by now...Must mean all those bases are named after old timey Southern Democrats. See that’s the bitch about being more obsessed with names than with actual shifting party ideologies. I simply argue that they stood for a disgusting regime and shouldn’t be honored for it. You’re fine with the regime but now have swallow a little of your own vomit every time you defend Bragg et al knowing they were likely Democrats.

Nope, I’m not defending your racist party nor do I care about military installations being named after them, I’m simply attacking your PC bullshit. ;)

Catching up this morning, GMAC must have argued for 8 to 10 hours yesterday, with a dozen of different members, including RD, something about suing certain members & possibly RD, WTF!!!!!!!

Socialism is slavery's evil cousin, the democratic party supports socialism there for their ideologies haven't shifted, same old shit "You work for the government, the government doesn't work for you" mentality.

At present I think we’re all in agreement that 500bbc has some legal jeopardy but thanks to the 230 provision RDP is safe. Trump is trying to change that.

On a side note, I think a potential litigant would prefer a contingency fee agreement where the lawyers get a third of anything they win. Meanwhile I think defendants costs are probably out of pocket.

Well I think you need to re-read what I wrote above again.. the legal protections I have stem from cases way before 230. The second protections we have are in the terms abd agreements you agreed too, the third is anonymity of the internet.. He didn’t say your name on the internet in particular but rather an alias which nobody knows who it is, so nobody was technically libeled.. I can go on and on, but why..

If it comes down to it you’ll figure it out.. lol

Got another question for you, Tommy. As one of the rare students of history in this forum, was it also PC BS when Reagan told the Germans to tear down the wall. Was it PC bullshit when Stalingrad was changed to Volgograd. How about when mobs tore down statues of Saddam Hussein? Should all of those monuments to genocide have been preserved as history or is there value to saying these things no longer represent us and we will no longer honor tyranny in our public square?

The anonymity defense is interesting and as you and I are aware has a reasonable amount of case law around it, case law that defines anonymity as fact specific in each case.

For example, I as well as dozens in here know who you are, your address, your name, your phone number, your place of business and all sorts of other information that pretty much pokes giant holes in the anonymity defense. The argument by a defendant that “River Dave” is an alias and no one on the internet actually knows who he is, seems to me to be a defense I would not want to rest my hat on.

Same goes with me, Racey and many others.

I’m not sure the anonymity defense works for someone knowingly alleging a false claim of a sex crime where damages need not be proven by statute (libel per se) against a poster who is well known both by their posting handle as well as their true identity especially when one can show that poster actually knew the identity of the one they were falsely accusing of a sex crime.

In either event, someone would need a couple hundred grand to pursue the case or a plaintiff’s lawyer who thought the one making the allegation had enough net worth to make it worth the exercise. And as you point out, the owner of the website would have no liability. It would be a dispute between those posters.

That’s some next level gymnastics right there.
But while you’re at it, are you going to tear down the Washington monument as well?
You know, him being a leader of tyranny against the crown and all.

ok... who’s Gmac?

I know your first name and have a phone number but don’t know who “you” are.. same as WTG

you know WTG as Tommy but you don’t know his last name nor who he is..

That all aside from the original point that those cases would be between members. To the heart of the matter there’s plenty of case law that says I’m not responsible for any of it..

ask the legal beagles they will tell ya the same thing.. other than tying me up “briefly” it isn’t gonna change that fact, and if someone decided they wanted to give it ago then when it’s all over they are gonna pay for it dearly.

I could careless if two members went at it, but back to the anonymous portion who would each member even serve? Lol

they’d come to me, in which case I’d direct them to my lawyer who’s gonna tell them to kick rocks as well.

Which will take us further to if people are getting that wound up where they are considering legal action just let me know and I have an instant solution to that problem. :)

edit - read the rest of your post / we are in agreement.. with the exception of “true identity.”

I operate under the assumption that 530 knows everything about me. He has the resources to accomplish anything. Political big wigs, law bosses, you name it, he has them on retainer if he wants.
Couple that with a lack of restraint, or rather, a certain “joy” in fucking with people, and it’s a perfect storm of who you DO NOT WANT as an enemy...at least if you have anything to lose. He would do it just for fun...and does.

Gmac...Im convinced that what was once a real poster is now an amalgamation of posters.
The “real” Gmac has never spent an entire day tail chasing about racial injustices to the point of clinical reductio ad absurdum.
That’s more the new squeezers thing...hmmm?

So as far as anonymity goes, Gmac is a fail.
It’s not even certain he’s (today) a singular entity.

Is Washington worthy of being honored for achievements OTHER than being a slave owner? Of course he is. Are Bragg, Hood, Pickett, Beauregard notable for anything other than their defense of slavery? I think that’s an important distinction.

But you and all the “we must preserve our history so we don’t repeat it“ crowd are pretty silent on the question of renaming Stalingrad and tearing down stairs of Saddam...

The moral reflections of the residents of those countries are really not for me to judge.
But I do find your comparisons to border on lunacy...considering the figures you chose.

Do you HONESTLY compare our civil war participants to be on the level of evil of men that practiced systematic annihilation of their own populace?
I know the history of Stalin (and Lenin as well, and the Czar before them) on nearly a year by year basis, your comparisons are flights of lunacy designed to both embellish your argument, and validate your opinion
