24 sleek craft deck with 300 mariner

My dad just bought a 24 foot sleek craft deck boat with a 300 mariner outboard. The boat steers like a tractor and seems to lean a lot in the wrong direction when turning. Does anyone here have any experience with these or have any tips. This is the first outboard he has had in 25 years. He has a 28 foot silouette deck boat with a procharged 502 and it doesnt handle anywhere close to this. Thanks

I can't visualize a Sleek deck?(maybe something cougar made and used the sleek name on)

How much offset? What prop? What type of steering? Photo of the back would help.
