At the end of last season I bought my first boat, a 2006 Eliminator 27 Daytona. The boat was advertised at maxed out marine and I dealt with Tim over there. BTW Tim was super informative and I felt he was honest with me about what I should buy for a first boat. This boat is a bow rider walk through with a 496 HO and a Bravo 1 X drive. The boat was really clean and had like 160 hours on it. The canopies were pretty much shot and had a crack on each side in the same spot. It looked like maybe someone lowered a garage door on it or something. The cracks were covered with some ghetto ass metal tape shit. Here is a picture of the boat before I started my upgrades this winter.

Here is the “custom” repair job on the canopy/windshields. It was “fixed” the same way on both sides.

I bought the boat in August of 2018 and ran it for the season as is. The first thing I looked into was replacing the canopies. I called one company who I won’t name and she was rude and seemed bothered by me calling her. She quoted me $5500 dollars for fucking canopies and then told me “maybe” they could get it done in 4-5 months. To me that meant, “No thanks I don’t want your business.” I called OC Boat Windows and he was super helpful and quoted me $1700. I decided to give him a shot and they look great. I went with the dark tint lower profile canopies and I think it looks badass.

So my next upgrade was the dingy ass Bimini top. So the boat obviously has a tribal flame kinda gelgoat graphic. I’m not a huge fan of any graphics at all but when you buy used you don’t get to pick. I was going to have Domn8er build me a deck boat and go with a solid orange gel coat but I decided to buy used and save a bunch of money. I digress.....so the Bimini top was dingy and had stripes on it. Well stripes and tribal flames clash so I had a solid orange cover made.

So now for the time consuming part, the stereo install. I decided to go with Rockford Fosgate equipment because my friend is a rep for them and I got a discount. Easy choice right? So this ended up being ALOT of work. Now I see why a quality install is so expensive. So I went shopping and bought the following equipment:

-1000 watt mono sub amp
- (2) 600 watt 4 channel amps.
- Head unit for passenger side dash
- wired remote for driver
-wired remote for back of the boat
- (2) 12 inch subs in ported box for under the passenger helm
- (2) 6.5 2 way speakers for bow
- (2) 6.5 2 way speakers for the engine compartment. Mounted inside the vent grills facing the very rear of the boat.
- (4) 8 inch speakers for the cockpit.
-All the misc. wiring and bullshit for the install.

I mounted all the amps in the engine compartment on a white piece of that cutting board type material. I forgot what it’s called but it’s strong and easy to work with.

I will spare you all the details but after taking the entire interior apart and doing all the wiring here is how it turned out.

Remote on the rear of boat. If you look real close you can also see the 6.5 speaker mounted inside that vent.

Then I wired up blue LED strip lights in the engine compartment, the cup holders and under the helms. I also replaced the factory running light bulbs with blue LED bulbs.

Nice upgrades. Stereos are monster projects even for the smallest add on items. Looks great

Looks awesome! What blue LED strips and replacement bulbs did you go with? Was thinking of doing those in my boat as well. Thanks!

Currently redoing the stereo in my 27, so please, don’t spare us all from the details lol. Did you do all of the wiring, hole cutting, splicing etc? I was so close to paying for it but decided I wanted to have the satisfaction of doing it myself.

I will give you a full write up tonight when I get home. Where do you live? If you live close maybe you can come by the house and look at what I did and get some ideas.
