just bought a 2019 F150 Ecoboost. Max tow pkg, 3.55 gears etc. put a 6inch lift and 37’s on it so I need some horsepower back. What are some good upgrades that won’t void my warranty.

Mods that don’t void your warranty either won’t make much more power, or will be really expensive for what they are.

You could try an intake and a tuner and go from there.

I’m going to to an intake, exhaust flanges, and a tuner here soon and see how that goes.

And pretty much no mods for the truck will ship to CA.

37’s?
4.10 gears, 4.56 if you tow a lot.

Gears should only effect the warranty of the gears themselves and maybe axles. Probably your safest best to keep the remaining warranty. Once you start tuning etc, they will know even if you return to stock for repairs

They will kick right out the back door if you touch it , the Ecoboost is fragile enough , my buddies son works as a tech for ford and the stories he tells .

Aren't those engines already boosted? Gearing changes seem safer.

3.55 axle on a towing truck is stupid! You need a 4.10 rear end or a V-8 or both it you want to raise it, put big tires on it, and tow with it.

With a 10speed I wouldn’t think you would be able to notice upping tire size as much?

Lol and we are off.

The 3.5 makes way more torque than the 5.0 V8. The lowest gear available for either engine in the F150 is 3.55. The reason for that is because of the 10 speed trans.

With 37’s he should probably swap gears in the truck.

He probably does not want to drive around in 6th gear (out of 10) all the time..

The ratio spread is not drastically wider, there is just a finer range of gears for the truck to run in.

Compared to stock, with 37”s it probably feels like a turd.

A standard 3.5 F150 with 3.55s is faster than a 3.5 Raptor with 35s and a 4.10 gear.

I thought these ecoboosts were torque monsters and now you’re telling me that 7th-10th gear can’t pull a 37?

To keep your overall gearing stock with 37’s, you’d need a 4.24 rear gear (stock tires are around 31 inches).

This sits right between 4.10 and 4.56...but you’re also adding a TON of weight with those tires, so you’re losing quite a bit of power to the ground even with 4.10s.

4.56 will give you added torque multiplication to account for the weight of the tires.

Sure you can add power with a programmer, but your tranny is gonna work that much harder.

It’s simple physics. I never said it can’t pull a 37, it’s just going to be sluggish compared to what it was.

The truck isn’t geared for 37s. The transmission can’t fix that.

Go put 33s in your Vette and report back.

Maybe I should clarify.... the truck drives great. It’s fast and has no issues after the lift. In my opinion I lost a “little” power which was obviously expected. It was a rocket before and it’s fast now. I’m simply talking about doing an intake or something to get back a few horsepower.

Nothing will make any real power without a tune to go with it. Find someone out of state you can ship the stuff to. They wont ship to CA anymore.

The high flow Turbo Exhaust adapters look interesting and seem to have no downsides.. I am going to get them next month.

AMS is cheaper but you need replacement Ford hardware

You can get 3.73's with a 5.0. Did a 2020 build the other day.

My 2014 F-150 Lariat supercrew came with the Maxtow 502a package. 3:73 gears, EL diff etc..... Owner's manual states>

3.5L V6 EcoBoost™ engine
Your vehicle is designed to run on regular fuel with an octane rating of
87 or higher.
For best overall performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended.;) The performance gained by using premium fuel will be most noticeable in hot weather or in severe duty applications such as towing a trailer.
So, driving around town I use 87 only. Before trailer trip, I drive the tank near empty and fill it with 93 octane.
It tows my Denali 289 RKS effortlessly.

So by saying the OP doesn’t want to drive around in 6th gear all the time you werent implying the truck couldn't pull 7th-10th? You even said it yourself it’s a close ratio transmission and that’s why in my original comment I said I was surprised he could tell enough to want more power. We aren't talking about putting 37s on a 4L60 truck. I guaranty if if the OP let someone drive his truck the last thing they would think is “man this thing is sluggish.”

I guarantee I would think his truck is sluggish. ;)

I was implying that he is used to a certain response out of the truck, and would need to run a lower gear in order to achieve that. The trans will shift out to 10th on cruise. This is a physics issue - He has added a large amount of rotating weight and made the final drive taller. Once again, that is not something the transmission can fix.

We basically are talking about adding 37s to a 4l60.. it is the same problem. The 10 speed has a very low 4.7 first, but the actual ratio spread from gears 2-9 is 2.99 2nd gear -.64 10th gear.

A 4l60 ratio spread is 3.06 1st gear -.7 4th gear. Yes the 10 speed has many more gears to keep the engine in its peak power band, but aside from first, the ratio spreads are similar.

A regular F150 with a 3.5 and 3.55s is faster than the Raptor on the street. Whoops :)

A crew cab 4wd 3.5 with 3.55's will 0-60 in the high 5 second range.

A crew cab raptor will 0-60 in the low 5 second range.

A 2wd crew cab 3.5 with 3.55's probably mid 5's in optimal conditions.

My 2wd supercrew rolls a stock 2017 Raptor supercrew every time... we raced like 5 times lol.

This test is a 4WD on 18s (which probably make the difference), still faster than the Raptor.

The TFL guys need driving lessons.

Raptor is a 5.1 zero to 60 truck. 1/4 mile 13.7-13.8.

0.64 OD becomes quite tall with 37’s...it may never shift into 10th gear LOL

They are in Denver... so the times are gonna suck. You just floor the truck, any idiot can race these things :). I had the same result with my 2wd on 33s vs a new Raptor, so they aren't wrong... I just slowly creep away.
