I don't know all the details yet, I am pretty sure no alcohol was involved, just driver error. It happened on Sunday, its still there today. It was such a nice boat.

Wow hard to believe they would let it sit for so long
Me too, I know he, the owner, turned it to the insurance right away and its up to them to get it I guess, the stickers on it are from the NPS saying they have 72 hours to remove, or what, they get it?? P.S. this boat had a scene in Charlie's Angels

that thing is going to be hard to right like that, might just be easier to sink it then bag it.

Bizarre, its pretty close to shore and the hull has no damage that can be seen. I wonder what went wrong?

I only can speculate, I think they nosed into a wave, hooked left, ass of boat did a 180 and rolled, looking down it doesn't look like there is much hull damage, the engine hatch is gone. They pulled it that close to shore and tied it there in shallow water earlier in the week.

Wait a minute:grumble: a 45' Donzi hooked a wave and spun 180 degree's? I know it's speculation but wouldn't it take a monster wave to turn a 45' boat in that manner? What lake is this on? Either way that sucks:thumbsdown

Sure.
Stepped hull + inexperienced driver + turn too fast at speed = hook & roll.
Could happen in flat water.

Very sad to see.
Eerie anytime you see just the bow sticking up. Saw that once on Lake Erie and never forget it.

Agreed.
I've spent hours drooling over 33 ZX's, have always loved them.

It was a 38'... This was the former Don Johnson boat from the TV show Nash Bridges...

what location did this happen at, looks like 2 places the boat was at? just asking, hope everyone was ok. never have been a fan of step bottoms, they are fast but not as stable.

Yes on the spooky, it looks like there is slot of structural damage to the stern and the deck is coming off from the hull. I also couldn't figure out why there were not any drives in the shots when it looked like he was filming the back of the boat by the transom v, if it's a triple wouldn't there be a drive on the center line?

I was thinking the same thing about the drives. If that was a dive for insurance reasons, I thought it would show them. Was that just someone diving for the hell of it?

Props stolen? I'm assuming that would've been discovered then.

Yes, as well as some personal stuff inside the boat

While in the salvage yard or did someone actually put tanks on and go down and steal your stuff?

Wednesday 21st it was secured in place so it wouldn't move/hit shore, everything was still there, Friday 23rd morning when salvage crew arrived to recover, props and other stuff was missing. So tanks, yes.

The boat is parked in the North Parking lot at Callville just below Trailer Park Village. Here is the before pic, knew I had 1. This is in Calville Bay Marina.

Me and the ex-GF loved walking the docks, bring a small ice chest or bottle of wine and just chill, good times for sure. Overton's dock is sweet to sit out on the point as well near that huge houseboat on the end dock.

From someone that was in the boat,

"what happened? we were going 55-60 mph and drive trim was at 5 1/2 (i looked at that and knew it was bad) when the owner/driver started a hard left turn, then the ass end slid out and the hole boat high sided and barrell rolled over us.everyone was ejected,it was terrifying."

Also, there were multiple boats that were there in seconds from Sandy that witnesses it, to help all that were thrown from the boat.

i heard driver was trying to be too cool and roll some waves in to everyone on the beach at sandy and underestimated his driving abilities! hate guys that wake shorelines so kinda got what was coming to him. just feel sorry he had to involve all the poor passengers on board with him-their all lucky to be alive and the driver needs several tickets for endangering their lives. at least one count each.

If a step isn't trimmed right it can do that at almost any speed.. they are freakin spooky for sure..

I would be very interested in one or more of thsoe bravo drives and transom assemblies if they are selling them!
