I recently purchased and picked one up Monday. 35 foot total length tandem axle toy hauler. I noticed going down the freeway when I hit some bumps the ass end sways unloaded. I have towed other 5th wheels that weren’t toy haulers before and no sway. I guess my question is do toy haulers sway a little bit compared to a camping 5th wheel?

Put something in it!

Never saw that on my 40’ Cyclone. And I often had nothing in the back.

Maybe you need to pick up an old F150.

You’ll need an F150 and overload it. That’ll get you going down the road straight. 💪🏻

It shouldn’t sway like that unloaded.
Make sure the axels are straight/aligned. Is the trailer sitting level when hooked up? I rather have my trailer ride level or little higher up front, pushing weight towards the back trailer axel.

what brand of trailer?

if you get a bad sway you can tap the trailer breaks only to calm it down.

Mine never did but had a triple axel heavy 5th wheel.

Do you have the hitch height and trailer ride height adjusted for your truck? The trailer should be close to level. Maybe a touch nose heavy when unloaded. Check tire pressure. Also check what load rating is on the tires, being a big trailer and 2 axels the tires need a high rating, no cheap trailer tires.

Picture of setup? Never heard of a fifth wheel swaying.

Sway normally gets worse when you load weight onto the ass end of a trailer. I would start by checking to see if it tows true and see if the trailer is level when hitched up. Might be an alignment or ride height problem?

Well that’s plenty level. If I remember right those redlines have the axles pretty far back.

I would inspect the leafs and shackles for wear and look at the bearing. Something maybe worn due to the age. But I don’t see anything wrong with the setup.
