Awesome looking boat. You don’t see too many ugly ones. Every one I’ve seen has great colors and cool simple gel coat graphics. Same as the older DCB 26 cat.

Perfect boat for before kids.

That’s it. Carry on!

Buddy bought an early 2000’s 26 cat hull, saddles and tanks from Gene. Rigged it with an HP500 and bravo. Open bow blue and white colors. Fun boat. Little bit of a bumpy ride in the rough though. He sold it and I saw it one
Other time in havasu a few years back. Think
It’s still floating around on havasu.

The red one that had the full page ad in Hot Boat years gave me a stiffy.

Believe this is it. Couldn’t find pic from the ad

Totally different bottom. Talon bottom. Alot closer to American offshore on top with minor changes .

When I had my Bullet built in '04 Gene told me that the 26 cat was a splash from a hammered American Offshore that someone brought in. There was another mold that sat at a shop off the 15 in Norco for years but that wasn't the one Howard made. Of course their layup and rigging made for one badass cat! I remember the red one above from the first regatta, I think a fireman owned it at the time. It could have been John who also worked as a rigger back then. Who knows, I'm old now and remember things "my way"! 🤣

I’ve always been surprised to hear that they ride a little rough in the snotty water. Always assumed that the cat bottom and heavy Howard layup would be a perfect rough water combo.

Still one of my favorite boats.

Did this bottom become the Sportdeck and/or 288 bottom? Seems all of their cats could share a very similar bottom?

I had my Warlock 25sxt on a trailer next to a Talon and it was damn near identical. I even measured the tunnel depths. Didnt most builders splash the Talon bottom?

I believe they chopped up a blank hull and created the 288s.

I know someone bought the 26 molds. I think it was @plasterdave

No idea. It’s been around awhile though.

How would you compare this to your DCB now?
I’ve had a lot of boats between, i will say that boat ran great, rode amazing, someone said there’s didn’t run that great in the slop, mine didn’t have any issue. It’s the same Talon hull as so many others it’s a well known, well versed hull. No rattles etc, came from a Cheetah Stiletto so it was a huge upgrade specially in the ride and hull creaks.

I feel like back in the early 2000s there were a bunch of these boats running around with blower motors sticking out of the hatch…yet you never see them anymore. Is that just me..?

I just bought one. Supposedly the only one rigged from the factory with twins but that’s just what I was told. I absolutely love the boat so far. I’m not sure why people say they don’t ride well in rough water. I’ve already had mine in some pretty decent water and parker on memorial was nuts but the boat handled it super well and has never done anything sketchy. One of the best riding cats I’ve been in. I think it’s a more fun boat to drive than the F26 with twins that my parents had

It looks great on the water. Saw you in front of Echo. My Buddy at Echo has 1. But it sat on the trailer memorial.

That fiberglass hatch goes insane. Any other models that have a flush hatch like that?
