We just did Vegas in a different way. We arrived on Sunday as the masses were leaving. Stayed at the Trump International. It's off the strip and has no gaming. Those 2 items seemed to rule out many of the undesirables that are now abundant in LV. Upon checking in they said they had upgraded us to a suite on the 50th floor. They asked if that would be OK. Of course it was. Very nice suite with an amazing view of the strip. On Monday we reserved a pool side cabana. It was large, Full on AC with 2 separate temp areas, 2 huge televisions and our own dedicated waitress who served just our cabana. Monday evening we enjoyed a fabulous Italian dinner at Bootleggers Bistro, at the extreme south end of Las Vegas Blvd. Appearing every Monday evening in their Copa Show Room is Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns, a 15 piece group. I knew of this group , but I’d never heard them live. Their music is Soul, R&B, Jazz and modern day Funk. I had made prior VIP reservations and we were seated in one of only 2 of their Vegas style booths. This group surpassed even my highest expectations. They are the best of the very best Vegas has to offer. They have a few Live Streams on YouTube you can check them out, if you’re interested. We ventured onto the strip just one time. That was for breakfast at one of our long time favorites, “The Peppermill”. They didn’t disappoint us.

At the end of our stay we felt we had managed to enjoy a bit of old Las Vegas and in the middle of all the BS that is currently going on. It’s still there, if you look for it.

The chicken parm at Bootleggers is great! Lots of history with that restaurant. It was an old hangout of the rat pack after their performances.

Sounds like you had a great trip [emoji1305][emoji1305][emoji1305]

We do a lot of work in Vegas and have stayed at the trump since it was built. Phil Ruffin knows how to run a hotel.

No Smoking No Casino No rif-raf and we can walk across the street to the Capitol Grill .....

When Trump was President we stayed there several times it was the safest place in Las Vegas and still is IMHO

Anyone else know of "old school" vegas places? Like good fellas dinner and show? The Mayfair supper club at Bellagio is supposed to fit the bill.

I am a fan of Piero's italian. Great food and old school vibe.

Some keywords caught my eye .... Trump Hotel upgraded to suite, Capitol grill, pool cabana & VIP concert seating... So my take away is bring your wallet and you'll still have a decent stay in Vegas away from the low lifes. Do I have this about accurate?

WTF - You can certainly stay wherever you want, do whatever you want and eat wherever you want. Remember, “Often the cheapest becomes the most expensive.” BTW - We did not go to a “Capitol Grill” or to any “Concert”. Nothing to see here, enjoy your trolling adventures. Move along.

We’ll try Trump next visit. Sounds good. 50th floor - that’s for us.
Pieros is a favorite.

We like South Point. I’ve never paid for a drink there. Freely comp’d if ya tip correct.

Red Rock use to allow big dogs but that’s all changed now.

We once stayed at the Fiesta in Henderson because they also allowed dogs. So that's where we chose to stay with our fantastic Giant Breed Newfoundland, who weighed about 130. When I checked in they said I see your reservation says you'll have a dog with you. That's fine, but does your dog weigh 45lbs ? I could see where this was headed so I calmly said, No, I don't believe she does. And that was the end of that.

WTF!!!!,, thats kinda harsh to some one that just asked a question???? so I guess I'm your huckle berry,.... I read your post, sounds kinda pompous to me,... kinda read into that you enjoyed your stay away from lower working class..... I do need to ask,... just the tip alone for those girls starts at 500 min???? most the time they get 1000, un less of coarse some working class shows up... but I think I heard some thing like it's tapped on to the bill... so all I think the troll, my buddy was asking is , in better words.... what did this couple days cost,,, and I know I can't afford it, so I have to ask..

Just an FYI, if you go on Hotwire Trump is one of if not the cheapest 5-star hotels on the strip. Worth it for sure

how much for the private 2 ac , w/private on call waitress cabana
No idea. IMO the pool kind of sucks, and cabanas are not my thing. My wife loved the spa, which was the same price as any other 5-star hotel.

Good information, thank you. We are heading out in a few hours, so wish us luck. Wife booked us in an off-strip place, but I can't remember the name. As long as there is a pool, IDGAF. 😁

we used to do over nite getaways at the red rock....dinner, movies and hang at the bar for awhile....then head up to the room.... kinda fun to act like an out of towner ... amazing sun rise if you get the east side room... watching vegas finally go to sleep as the sun rises and the lights go out..

Appreciate that ole sport..... I let it go the minute I saw response.... maybe a bad day so always give those a pass.... its all good.... as I've said before I rarely get on RDP without the enfluence of a substance and see this site as an escape so never take things seriously. I accept that some folks do. Off topic a bit but I did have a buddies wife just return from the Viceroy in Cabo [$1K/ night] and she said they had some rapper thugs and their chicks there so even when dropping good money you can encounter some issues. Onward.

That place is amazing. Boss has a 3-bed villa there and I'm just waiting for an invite. :)

Went to Red Rock. Wow such a nice hotel. Think that’s my new Go To when staying in Vegas. No need to visit the strip at all

I used to stay at the Red Rock. Very nice rooms and service, and my girlfriend and I enjoyed the adult pool (topless).

I’ll give a great review of Virgin Hotel former Hard Rock. Total refurbished rooms. Automatic lights. Tons of usb and electric plugs in. Wireless charger. a safe. Separate door from foyer to main bedroom. This was a regular room. Not a suite. Apparently I had a player’s card at Hard Rock because they sent an offer for 2 free nights and $30 credit…. which lasted 10 seconds.
Took pic of grandson in last pic in white tshirt.

Let's pull Trump's taxes to double check for unreported income you just openly admitted to providing. Every RDP Dem

BTW great idea for making Vegas possibly doable again

Looks to be a lot of piss and other stuff...
I didn’t take my phone because I didn’t want it ripped off, but there was a petite Asian girl with an insane body sunbathing that took my mind off whatever gooey toxins that might have been in the water. 😁 I commend her booby surgeon.

Just realized The Pepper Mill sits on the location of what was once Jack Dennison's Copper Cart. Back in the day, The Copper Cart was a great old school LV restaurant connected to the El Morraco and famous for their Prime Rib.

Our Armstrong reps take us to bootleggers every conference. I love that place

Not clothes…. Body masks. :p I know for me I wear a tshirt. I burn in 2 minutes. I have had too many sunburns as a kid on Cape Cod. Probably need to see a dermatologist.

We are here now and have been enjoying the last few days in Vegas. The plan was to do as much as possible in the short time that we were here. We saw the funeral procession for Trooper May, went hiking up at Red Rock, walked the Strip two or three times, went shopping, lost some money on the Roulette tables, and just got back from an afternoon at Lake Las Vegas. We've had some amazing food at a few different places and overall, we've had a blast! I will say this though....I've never seen this many folks from certain areas of L.A. EVER. Period. We haven't had any problems and have stayed to ourselves. The vibe reminds me of Long Beach, with the ever present odor of weed. It stinks everywhere you go. Other than that, our overall experience has been positive.
