We just did Vegas in a different way. We arrived on Sunday as the masses were leaving. Stayed at the Trump International. It's off the strip and has no gaming. Those 2 items seemed to rule out many of the undesirables that are now abundant in LV. Upon checking in they said they had upgraded us to a suite on the 50th floor. They asked if that would be OK. Of course it was. Very nice suite with an amazing view of the strip. On Monday we reserved a pool side cabana. It was large, Full on AC with 2 separate temp areas, 2 huge televisions and our own dedicated waitress who served just our cabana. Monday evening we enjoyed a fabulous Italian dinner at Bootleggers Bistro, at the extreme south end of Las Vegas Blvd. Appearing every Monday evening in their Copa Show Room is Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns, a 15 piece group. I knew of this group , but I’d never heard them live. Their music is Soul, R&B, Jazz and modern day Funk. I had made prior VIP reservations and we were seated in one of only 2 of their Vegas style booths. This group surpassed even my highest expectations. They are the best of the very best Vegas has to offer. They have a few Live Streams on YouTube you can check them out, if you’re interested. We ventured onto the strip just one time. That was for breakfast at one of our long time favorites, “The Peppermill”. They didn’t disappoint us.
At the end of our stay we felt we had managed to enjoy a bit of old Las Vegas and in the middle of all the BS that is currently going on. It’s still there, if you look for it.
