So we are cruising up to pirates yesterday, going through the no wake zone under the Topoc bridge. Some clown with a full boat and his massive tube strapped to the back comes cruising through just under step speed plowing a monster wake a roll boat would be envious of. I politely yell about the no wake zone he seems to have missed. I know all the boats surrounding him at idle speed must have been confusing.
He continues to plow up past the north boundary buoy and slows to neutral. He steps to the back of his boat to wait for me..
he yells to me “read that buoy”. I yell back, “No wake zone going south of buoy”. He replies, “I was heading north, so it doesn’t apply.”.
I about keeled over laughing.. These are the idiots we share the water with..

Good luck out there..

Reminds me of the time a lady in my neighborhood was getting into her car at the supermarket.
She was in a rush and left her purse on the roof and pulled a quick turn in front of me.
I gave a light 'TAP-TAP' on the horn and pointed to let her know, and so she SCREAMS out the window, "FUUUUCCCCKKK YYOOOUUUU" !!!!!!!!!
I was like "Uhhhhhhhhh - ok".
Unless someone's gonna get hurt or otherwise, I tend to keep to myself now.

To get technical, I still can not locate any documentation that shows those buoys where not dropped / approved / maintained by any agency that patrols the water. They were added a few years after that young girl was killed by the boat (that was never found).

You can still get a ticket and the questions that follow, but I have yet to find who approved them and who maintains thme.

Im predicting low hour usage on my toon this summer

I already told the wife, I see more pool time then boat time.
While Havasu maintains consistent levels, with all 3 lakes above it being low and ramps forecasted to be closed, Havasu traffic will increase.

Forgive my ignorance, the girl was never found or the boat was never found? Not aware of any missing as of now.

Was floating down my the casino one day when some douche came plowing through...

I yell, hey, slow down!

He says...

This is a 5mph zone, and I'm not going that fast!

After awhile he finally noticed everyone else was just barely moving and came off the gas.

Idiots abound.

I was told the folks that dropped all the money making that sandy beach on the east shore were responsible for getting it extended that way.

That is my thought too. Just wondered if @Singleton had different info. Assuming we're all talking about the same incident?

different accident. Topock no wake was added after a 29’ Fountain hit a girl on a jet ski. Girl was rescued, but passed at hospital. Couple on boat and boat that hit the girl was never located. Dates back to 2007 maybe

if you are referring to the bouys that create the flat wake zone under the i40 and railroad bridges I believe they were put in much earlier than two years ago. I believe they were put in right after that boat leaving Topok Marina at night hit the bridge abutment and killed a couple people. That was like 8 years ago.

I thought they put them in when Topock 66 got redone.

Please do :). last weekend was magical, it felt like 2016. I know it was the week after 2 weeks of events, but it was great. Windsor lot looked full but it was 80% fishing boats as there was a fishing tournament on Sat.

Kids sports are back, The short timers that just got with the program last year will only have time to do the big holidays this year. The lake is going to be fine, holidays will be busy. Short timers will start unloading boats after this season when they want to start their vacationing again.

A lot of morons out on the water. We are going on about day 20 of boating, and as it gets warmer the level of stupidity is rising as well.

Headed back to the Marina a couple of nights ago a little after 8:00pm and there were a bunch of boats out with no nav lights.

Also ran into some massive fucking wake and I look about a half mile ahead and see a boat running with underwater lights on. I catch up and they are running ballast in the dark with nobody in the water down the middle of the fucking lake. It’s going to be an interesting season...

Yea that is around when I believe they were put up. I know they were there in 2010, we were pulled over for a “safety check” there that year and it was no wake.

I don’t know. Last weekend was definitely somewhat quiet but yesterday was busy for a Friday. The hotel lots were full last night as well. Headed to the boat in a little while and I am anticipating a lot of boats out on the water.

I’m not saying things will be perfect, but it will be lighter than last year overall, aside from holidays. This time last year Windsor was turning people away by 11 AM every weekend.

With California more open it won’t be as bad as last year. I still think it will be busy though as long as the government is printing money. It definitely seems like a lot of new boaters on the water with a variety of different boats.

Why dont the water cops know this, and just sit there.......

SRice/Grandpa Mac would hide in the bushes all day, take pictures of your boat and send you a ticket in the mail if you were making a wake going upriver.

How about we don’t go back to that stupidity.

It is a waste of time for them to sit there. Out of thousands of boats that pass through there everyday on a weekend, only a handful per day ignore the bouys.

You have to figure with all the boats sold there are a lot of zero experienced boaters out there right now.

Add to that and they haven’t invented boats for Gen Z’ers yet that have lane departure, self parking, blind spot correction, collision avoidance and auto braking features. LOL it only has a throttle and a black snow-globe floaty ball thing on the dash.

Things like this are why I have a feeling on a lot of weekends the boat will be sitting on the trailer and we’ll be in the pool this summer.

I heard they shut down /close the lake Tuesday thru Thursday each week during summer to allow fresh water to fill up all the coves!

that makes it busy on weekends!

And that hollow tube behind the round cap doesn't fit the tesla charger cable.😉
