A generous colleague sent me this bottle of wine for the holidays. I am considering having it tomorrow- we will be having lobster bisque followed by filets on the grill.

Has anybody had this wine before? I have not.

Have not but we don’t do much outside the West Coast vineyards. Let us know how it is.

Drunk bought these 3 magnums last time up north. Been saving for a special occasion. Tomorrow sounds good. :)

Not a bad bottle, about $50, never had it, but like DWC said, we dont stray to much farther away than Paso Robles, Justin is pretty much are go to all the time now, $25 or so at costco for our daily drinker, and then their right angle and isosceles cabs for weekends and special stuff.

I just dropped the large at Total wine last night.... Wife hasn't seen that bill yet... Driving to Utah should provide her with hours of time to explain to me about the evils of alcohol and my lack of self control when it comes to buying it....

Haven’t tried that one.

Wife and I enjoy a glass of Hess Cabernet with dinner.
The Robert Mondavi black label is good too.

The standing joke is that this is the Waterjunky house wine.

Pretty much guarantee no one has had it or will have it. At one point I had 15 cases under my pool table. When it was produced it was going to take on the world (and is good enough to be in the thick of the fight). 04 and 05 were the only years it was produced and then the family started fighting.......
My neighbor's produced it. Down to about 2.5 cases under the table and no room in the cellar.

Roth is solid

Justin makes a great cab

Also, try Freemark Abbey. About the best $50 wine I have had. Cakebread as well

If you want to bump it up a notch, go with Silver Oak. About $120 or so

I’ve seen Justin all the time just haven’t tried it. Always thought it was a strange name for a wine.

I did have Quintessa a few weeks ago and it’s was the best wine I’ve ever had. Never had anything like that before. But for $190 per bottle it’s something that’s very far in between.

No need to spend a lot - buy this wine - a case or more- Sams Club has it for about $9.00 a bottle - best $ you can can spend

Iseethis everywhere , any good ?

Very good and it’s great, for the price. Buy a bottle and try it - you’re only risking $10.00 and if you like it you’ll be able to buy it before it’s gone

Some great drinking wines being shared!

I also love the fridges!

So what’s the favorite red for 20-25 bucks? Here is a nice Chianti Classico I like for about that price...

I different division of my company is heavy into refrigerators. I do get a discount if you ever want one.

The brand is Liebherr
We may have to talk in the foreseeable future. I might be looking for another commercial style fridge.

I know a bit about wine.

Some of my good buddys are wine makers at the some great winerys.

I make my own wine...

But being in Business... I have bought many of meals at some the highest end restaurants, which comes with alot of great wines.

What the majority of peeps dont understand. Is why some bottles of wine cost $60 - $120 or more.

The average 65-70 gallon French Oak Barrel cost $1600, Typically 6 gallons results in about 2.5 cases of wine. So you can quickly see, why some wines have high price tags. But that doesnt mean its worth that money. Shit in will equal shit out.

So wine makers use expensive barrels as a crutch to improve the crap they put in. But thats just protecting there job.

Regardless of the price, focus on the regions that make wines that apeal to you. Then focus on the flavor profiles that appeal to you. Some like dry, some like buttery. Some like fruit forward, some like fruit in the after taste. Sweat or Not?

But that doesnt mean any one wine, meets everyones tastes. Get to know the people you are serving, and do you best to serve wines that meet there taste profiles. Truly price doesnt matter.

I highly recommend a Pinot Noir that I found the other day for $10, if you buy 6 bottles...
Bread and Butter Pinot Noir 2017... wow... its really hard to beat for $10...

There are some amazing wine portrayed in the earlier post...
Ruffino Ducalli Gold 1996... wow, what a great bottle of wine.
Sea Smoke Pinot 1997... Top 3 Bottles I have ever had.
Heitz, Caymus, Franklin, Bridlewood, and on and on and one...

I can name great bottle after great bottle but those are all expensive..

The key to this venue... Is finding a great bottle of wine a low cost. So instead of buying 1 bottle, you get 4...

Which is a key reason I started making my own.

Just bottled 6 gallons of Pinot, and Aging 12 gallons of Cab at the moment.
