Did these tailpipes for a buddy. .065" wall 304. Spent a great deal of time taking measurements and doing the math for a good fit and tight joints. Never welded something like this, it was definitely a learning experience.
Thanks, yeah no jacket, these will go with a set of cmis on a 496. The cmi headers dump the water at the end of the collector. They are at the polisher nowBad ass bud, single wall right? Time to get out the Mother’s and clean them up.
Nice job. What are some of the things that you learned?Did these tailpipes for a buddy. .065" wall 304. Spent a great deal of time taking measurements and doing the math for a good fit and tight joints. Never welded something like this, it was definitely a learning experience.
Thanks. I already knew this so I guess you could call it reinforcement; measure twice, cut once, preparation is key. An accurate, tight fitting joint produces a much nicer welded connection ( especially for an amateur welder ).Nice job. What are some of the things that you learned?
Very little welding experience prior. A little bit of mig and now learning tig. Had the welder next to the shop I work at give me some pointers, reading and of course some you tube. Thanks for the information. Have you spent much time welding before this? I ask all because I want to pick up torch once more. I started back in the day brazing then welding. I have also done stick and mug.
I assume that you are doing right and that is what I am after to do as it is the one I have not done.
Are you in Havasu? If so I’d like to check out your set up some time.
