A weekend in Nashville

My wife and her girl friend want to do a long weekend in Nashville, what are some of the must see and do. I know music bars and BBQ but that’s about it....

what’s the sweet spot to stay?

If you want nice tour of the stars homes.... Tommy's Tours small one man band, he picks you up and drops you off at your hotel.... several hours tour, see all the country stars homes.... incredible very reasonable

Broadway downtown is where all the honky tonks are. Kid rocks place is insane. All of them have great music and most are three stories tall with a bar and a band on each level. They call it nashvegas for a reason. If you drive downtown stay off broadway. Doont cross it just find a spot to park and walk in. Its a zoo. We had a great dinner at the southern.

We did the air bnb thing lots of options. If the weather is good take a boat out on old hickory. We rented an outboard deck boat from cedar creek marina that was decent.

The marinas all have live music on the weekends and are a different vibe than downtown.

Skip the concrete Parthenon. The hermitage, belle meade plantation, and downtown franklin for the history buff. Lots of civil war battlefields and tours in franklin and the downtown is a cool spot to wander.

Check who is playing at the bluebird, the cannery, the basement east and winners. These are smaller venues that usually have good acts. The ryman, the factory and the grand ole opery are bigger venues worth checking out too. Music city roots is supposed to open in madison in 2020. Madison is a bit of a trek from nashville but if they open their new venue by the time you go i would check to see who is playing they have a pretty good pulse on the local talent that is about to break big.

If you have spotify go to concerts and change your city to nashville. Anyone in your playlist who is playing will pop up.

The operyland resort is a trip. Definetly a tourist trap but pretty impressive to wander. We got a spa pass for the day which gave us access to the pools and spa. It was worth it.

Non stop plates of amazing food arriving non stop for an hour. The restaurant is in an old house. Super low key and casual.

It starts with grits, then pancakes, potatoes, eggs, ham, sausage, bacon, biscuits, gravy, fruit, fried chicken, (Because you get fried chicken with EVERY meal in Nashville.) Finishing off with a sick apple pie creation. Served with pitchers of sweet tea, of course! The plates come out family style, and you help yourself, to as much as you want. Just fucking awesome!

when you stayed at the air bnb did you feel if there were bad streets or areas that should be avoided?
im looking to book an air bnb and it’s hard to tell where the good /better streets / areas are

Take a trip out to jack daniels distillery. It’s about an hour out of the city. You’ll get to see a lot of the countryside if you are into that

There are a lot of rough areas in the city. We actually stayed outside of town in bellemead and mount juliet a pair of suburbs we were considering. Traffic is "bad" if you ask the locals but its 15-30 minutes to get everywhere. Lots of construction though as the city is growing from transplants far faster than the infrastructure is.

sorry i cant be more help as to what streets etc.. The suburbs outside of town are all very nice.

Tell the girls to stagger their drink orders (different people order at different times). I have two separate couple friends that were ruffled at kid rocks place on separate occasions. One couple reported it to the police when they woke up 16 hours later, cop taking report said they have a problem on the weekends with random drugging at the big clubs there on the main strip. Luckily all turned out ok with no one robbed or worse....
