So my finance son who is smarter than me tells me about this app last night. I guess there are others. I had no idea. Just now flipping through tv channels i see acorns on a nascar.
Interesting idea, wont get rich of it but still cool.
In a nutshell it rounds up all your purchases using your bank card. Takes the round up change and put it in your 'portfolio'. Its not much. For me yesterday it would have been about 2 bucks. But if its 2 a day over a month then i suppose it could add up.

I guess it's the same as the old school coin cup where you'd toss your leftover coins at the end of the day.

Queer

There is so an app called Digit that take a percentage of your balance out a couple days a week and puts it in a rainy day fund.

We have a similar deal tied to our debit card and since January of this year we have saved $160....I thought it would have been more at this point but oh well.

With all the stories about hacking and data breaches why would you give an app access to your banking info?

I use Acorn. I also add a couple hundred bucks a month. Every time I use my debit card I set the amount 0f 10.00 added to Acorns. I took 10k out a few months ago, it already has 3k back in it. I don't even miss the money. I got my 22 year old son using it, he loves it, it's a fun app and adds up quick.
