I think the dull grey deposits that coat polished stainless very quickly in Havasu are from minerals? My question is do you guys know a trick to prevent the hours of polishing work needed to remove the deposits? Luckily where I usually boat we don't get this dull coating, but when I visit Havasu it happens in a couple days.

I was thinking of trying carnuba car wax and not wiping it off prior to launching. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just spray some diluted muriatic acid on, and it will disappear. Protect surfaces you don’t want to get it on, and flush with water afterwards.

100%

It's effortless! spray on, wipe off. Done.

Toilet bowl cleaner - the cheaper, the better. Wet the stainless, spray it on, count to 10, rinse off. Don't let it sit on the gel

You could also try FLITZ. It is a metal polish and also has anti-corrosion properties.
I use it on all of my rifle barrels as well as wooden stocks. It is also safe for plastic.
I also use it on my polished aluminum valve covers and air filter on the Hallett.
I hope this helps. :)

would any of the above stuff mentioned also work on pontoon logs ?

..

I have Sharkshide on the toon, and they use muriatic acid to clean the toons before application. You have to be careful not to get it on anything though. It was lifted off of the trailer with a hoist before the acid treatment.

If you can live with it until you get home, your local lake will most likely pull the deposits right back off...
