Afe filters

My 6.7 powerstroke need a new air filter, I'm thinking about replacing it with a washable AFE filter, who's using it? Good or no bueno?

What are you going to gain , stick with stock . Washable,s suck .

Stock filters are fine. The only manner in which a filter of a given surface area can flow more air is to not filter as well.

No experience with AFE filters. I ran one of their intakes on my 05 Cummins with a K&N filter. I have run K&N filters on every vehicle I have ever owned and have never had an issue. Wash them at every oil change.

I ran one in a hemi ram. I liked it as the no oil thing made it a much easier cleaning process, less mess.

A lot of it is psychological voodoo HP for the most part , didnt they call K&N turbo charge wheel dusters , it did it on my old 7.3 with a K&N .

In 99.9% of driving situations, the throttle itself is the bottleneck.

Stick with the stock filter. Its probably a few inches thick and that's a few inches of filtering air vs. paper thin media on the AFE.

And in the rest, the throttle body is the bottleneck.

Done it with K&N for a while. Easier to just drop a new oem style in.

AFE is top notch. The Pro Dry which I think you are looking at is the way to go. K&N and oiling is horrible and old school. This is the way to go.

Seems like you are creating more work for yourself for no gain. But I think they might include an AFE sticker in the box so there is that.

Never put a washable filter on a turbo or supercharged engine. Stock filter is my vote. I’ve changed a few engines out in my time from the dirt storm the oiled cotton element filter let by.

…Not using this brand but I’m using a K&N washable on my 12 valve Cummins…no problems whatsoever…15 years…
