6061 T6, nice and hard... polishes real nice

Whatever alloy it is it’s not worth the maintenance. Stainless is the only way to go IMO.

im no expert , but can using stainless cause it to be more stiff when pushing down on down pedal ?

i know thickness can effect stiffness of down pedal??

Plates need to be saw cut. Should not be cut with a shear, and as stated above the grain going front to rear.

I was thinking of replacing the SS plates on my 18' Mandella with aluminum plates. Heard aluminum was better, although more difficult to maintain.

If you don’t mind polishing after a wash their not an issue. Take the stuff off in the off season and have it polished... added cost but so bitchen looking!
