Alcantara vs Vinyl vs Cool Touch

Looking for some advice…

We are in the process of building a new Howard. Trying to decide which interior to go with. Really like the look/feel of Alcantara but I don’t know too much about it’s durability. Owned many boats with classic Vinyl and kinda want to change things up.

Other option I have seen while reading through the forum is Cool Touch Vinyl. I personally have zero knowledge about Cool Touch Vinyl but I have heard great things.

Any and all advice or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Don't know anything on Alcantara durability, but we have a friend that has black Cool Touch in a new boat and I was amazed that it didn't melt the skin off my ass after being in the blazing sun all day. It wasnt cool by any means, but in black it wasnt any hotter than the white vinyl in our boat that is was parked right next to.

I’ve always liked the look of alcantara but Martinez tried to steer me clear of it because he said it fades and just dosent hold up well. Not sure how true that is at all. The cool touch stuff is badass it does stay cooler 100% I can vouch for that. Be curious to hear about some alcantara that’s a couple years old and see how it’s holding. I’m not sure if there is possibly different grades of it or….

I got tired of burning my butt and legs with dark brown vinyl too. My upholstery guy recommended alcantara and it looks awesome. Only a few weeks old at this point so not much help for durability. But he swears by it.

what's the going rate these days on some basic seat cushions maybe a rear seat?

I had the seat shell wrapped and they made the cushion for me for $300 each. I shopped around and got quoted $350 pretty consistantly.

That's what i was thinking, never know with bidenflation, hard part is finding someone who can get in done without 2-3 month wait.

There are differences in qualities of Alcantara. Just like there are different qualities of vinyl.
